It pairs a unidirectional timing bezel and maker-rated 300 m water resistance with an automatic flyback chronograph and Panorama Date. Its appeal is the unusual dial and mechanical depth; its main practical question is whether the 16.95 mm case and long lugs suit your wrist.
What makes the Silver Screen dial distinctive?
The dial is silver-galvanized with a finely matte finish. Black hands and applied indices, filled with Super-LumiNova, stand out against it. The two subsidiary dials have a lathe-cut decoration intended to evoke vinyl records.
Glashütte Original says the name and surface take inspiration from historic cinema screens coated with a thin layer of silver paint. The maker’s design rationale is that the matte surface reduces light dispersion and increases contrast. That is the brand’s explanation, not a measured comparison of legibility against other watches.
The result is a more restrained palette than the orange textile strap option might suggest: the dial itself stays monochrome, while the subsidiary-dial textures and black markings provide much of its visual character.

How large does it wear?
The stainless-steel case measures 43.2 mm across and 16.95 mm high. Monochrome Watches reported a 51.6 mm lug-to-lug measurement in its 2024 coverage. Time+Tide described the watch as imposing on the wrist, and Monochrome advises smaller-wrist buyers to consider trying it on.
Those dimensions are useful starting points, not a universal fit verdict. Check whether the lugs extend beyond the top of your wrist, whether the height catches on sleeves, and how the watch feels after wearing it for more than a few minutes. Wrist shape and strap adjustment matter alongside diameter.
What do the bezel and chronograph actually do?
The unidirectional rotating bezel has a black ceramic insert and supports conventional elapsed-time tracking: align its marker with the minute hand at the start of an interval, then read elapsed time from the bezel. The maker rates the watch to 30 bar/300 m and says it complies with ISO 6425 and DIN 8306. These are Glashütte Original’s stated specifications and standards claim; no independent water-resistance or standards test is reported here.

- Domed dial with a very fine sun-ray finish & a gradient dark to lighter glacier blue effect.
The chronograph is a separate timing function, not a substitute for the dive bezel. The manufacturer describes the flyback operation as stopping, resetting and restarting the chronograph with one press. Its displays include a chronograph stop-seconds hand, small seconds and a 30-minute counter. A mechanical chronograph can time short intervals, but it is not necessary for diving.
What is inside calibre 37-23?
Calibre 37-23 is an automatic movement with a stated 70-hour power reserve, plus or minus five percent, and a silicon balance spring. The manufacturer gives its frequency as 28,800 A/h (4 Hz). It drives the flyback chronograph, small seconds, 30-minute counter and Panorama Date.
Monochrome identifies the chronograph architecture as an integrated design with a column wheel and vertical clutch. It also describes the display caseback and movement finishing, including a three-quarter plate, blued screws and a gold rotor mass. These details give the watch mechanical interest beyond its dive-watch functions, although they do not change the fit or wearing considerations of the case.

Which strap or bracelet configuration should you consider?
Glashütte Original lists the watch with a black rubber strap, orange textile strap or stainless-steel bracelet. Time+Tide reports pin-buckle and folding-clasp choices for the fabric and rubber straps. The brand says straps and bracelets can also be bought separately, but exact compatibility and present availability should be confirmed with Glashütte Original or an authorized dealer.
- Black rubber: A practical-looking option for a watch with a dive bezel and substantial water-resistance rating.
- Orange textile: A brighter alternative that changes the overall appearance without changing the silver-and-black dial.
- Steel bracelet: The integrated-looking metal option; assess its fit and adjustment in person if possible.

Who is this SeaQ Chronograph for?
It makes most sense for someone who wants a highly specified mechanical watch with both dive-style timing and a flyback chronograph, and who likes the contrast of a matte silver dial with black details. The Panorama Date and display caseback add further visual and mechanical interest.
It is less compelling if you want a slim, unobtrusive watch or expect the chronograph to be essential to underwater use. Before choosing a configuration, try the case on and judge its height and lug reach on your own wrist; the diameter alone does not answer the fit question.
