What makes the LM Sequential Flyback different?
Most chronograph watches provide one elapsed-time measurement. The LM Sequential Flyback combines two independently usable chronographs and a Twinverter control that can coordinate their start and stop states. That pairing supports several timing approaches: two separate events, split timing, sequential lap timing and cumulative timing. The Flyback edition adds a flyback function to both chronographs, so a running timer can be reset and restarted without first stopping it.
MB&F presents the flyback as an extension of the Sequential concept, rather than a separate complication unrelated to its dual-timer design. The earlier LM Sequential EVO, introduced in 2022, was the brand’s first chronograph wristwatch and its 20th calibre; MB&F says it won that year’s GPHG Aiguille d’Or. MB&F’s milestones place the Flyback’s development in that lineage.
How do the two chronographs and Twinverter work?
Each chronograph can time an event on its own. The Twinverter is the coordinating control: it inverts the start/stop status of both chronographs together. That makes it possible to switch between timing states in ways that support different uses, instead of treating the watch as simply two unrelated stopwatches.

- Independent timing: Use the two chronographs to measure separate events.
- Split-second timing: Record an intermediate time while another measurement continues.
- Sequential or lap timing: Time successive intervals using the two timers in sequence.
- Cumulative timing: Add separate periods of activity while excluding pauses.
- Flyback: Reset and immediately restart a running chronograph, without a separate stop step. Both chronographs have this function.
The movement’s two column-wheel chronographs provide the mechanism behind the paired timers; the Twinverter supplies the unusual shared control logic. The result is broad functional range, but it also asks the wearer to learn what each control does and how the two timers’ states interact.
What does the 2024 hands-on review say about the experience?
Hodinkee’s November 6, 2024 hands-on review frames the watch around a useful question: does adding complications make a watch better? Its comparison with the earlier LM Sequential gives readers a way to weigh the Flyback’s added timing function against the added mechanical and operational complexity. That is a reviewer’s evaluative lens, not a universal verdict: the extra capability matters most to someone who will use the flyback and multiple timing modes, while a wearer seeking a simpler chronograph may not value the added controls in the same way.

MB&F says two years of secrecy and testing preceded the platinum model’s introduction, describing that work as necessary to make the system robust enough for long-term use. That development history helps explain why the Flyback is presented as a substantial evolution of the dual-chronograph platform, rather than a cosmetic update.
How is the titanium EVO different from the platinum debut?
The platinum LM Sequential Flyback is the 2024 model associated with the hands-on debut. The LM Sequential Flyback EVO is a separate titanium reference shown on MB&F’s current product page. Its specifications should not be assumed to describe the earlier platinum watch.

On the EVO, the tilted time display sits at 6 o’clock. The left chronograph’s seconds and minutes are at 9 and 11 o’clock; the right chronograph’s are at 3 and 1 o’clock. The Twinverter is at 9 o’clock. That layout makes the paired timers visually legible as separate systems, although the quantity of indications is part of the watch’s complexity.
MB&F also lists a 2025 Longhorn anniversary version as a distinct 20-piece edition, with long lugs, blued hands and black subdials. It is separate from both the 2024 platinum Flyback and the titanium EVO.

Does more complication make this a better watch?
The answer depends on whether the wearer has a use for the capability. For timing overlapping or successive events, tracking laps, accumulating active intervals or restarting a timer instantly, the dual chronographs and Twinverter offer functions that a conventional single chronograph does not. The flyback capability is present on both timers, not just one.
In exchange, the watch has more controls and a more involved display than a straightforward chronograph. The hands-on question raised by Hodinkee is therefore a practical one: does the extra functionality improve the experience for you, or is the underlying Sequential already enough? The platinum and EVO references share the core dual-flyback idea, but their differing materials and designs—and the EVO’s separately published specifications—should inform any edition-to-edition comparison.
