The GPS Solar watches in Seiko’s 2024 Starry Sky limited-edition group are the SBXC157 and SBXD027. Both have light-blue dials with a pressed star motif that Seiko says changes with the viewing angle; the larger SBXC157 uses Caliber 5X83 with a dual-time display and chronograph, while the slimmer SBXD027 uses Caliber 3X62.
This is a specifications-led comparison based on Seiko’s product information, not a report of hands-on testing. Seiko scheduled the four-model Starry Sky group, which also included two solar radio-controlled watches, for release on July 6, 2024. The details below focus on its two GPS Solar models.

What Seiko means by Starry Sky
Seiko describes the dial treatment as a pressed star motif intended to express the strong sparkle of stars across an expansive night sky. The pattern is designed to change appearance with the viewing angle. That is Seiko’s description of its design intent, not an independently tested observation.
The two watches share the light-blue dial concept and GPS Solar technology, but differ in movement, complications, dimensions, and weight. The SBXC157 is the more elaborate model; the SBXD027 has a smaller, thinner case and a simpler display.

GPS Solar and practical expectations
GPS Solar combines light-powered operation with GPS time and time-zone adjustment. Whether a watch can receive a signal depends on reception conditions; the product specifications should not be read as a guarantee of synchronization in every location or circumstance.

- Secure Case Back: Screw Type
Seiko lists approximately six months of operation on a full charge and approximately two years in power-save mode for both models. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured results. Both are rated to 10 bar; follow Seiko’s instructions for water exposure and care.
