The d.m.h. Three-Hander in Bronze is a bespoke, front-loading mechanical watch by independent maker Fred Dingemans. In Monochrome Watches’ September 2024 hands-on review, the example measured 39.6 mm across and 12 mm thick, paired a green lacquer dial with a serviced New Old Stock automatic movement, and used a distinctive locking crown. Those details describe the reviewed watch—not a fixed specification for every d.m.h. commission.
What is the d.m.h. Three-Hander in Bronze?
d.m.h. stands for Dingemans Mechanische Horloges, Fred Dingemans’s independent watchmaking brand. The maker says watches are designed together with customers, so Monochrome Watches’ review is of one bespoke example rather than a standard mass-market reference. The review was published on 26 September 2024: Monochrome Watches’ hands-on review.
The reviewed watch combines a bronze case and an individually specified dial with a three-hand display: hours, minutes and central seconds. Its design is especially notable for how the movement and crown are secured, rather than for a conventional case-and-crown layout.
Case and construction
Monochrome reports a brushed Cnsu8 bronze case measuring 39.6 mm in diameter and 12 mm thick, with sapphire crystals at the front and back. The published water-resistance rating is 30 m; this is the review’s stated specification, not an independently verified test result.

The case is front-loading: the movement is installed through the front, and the dial and crown stem help hold it in place. According to the review, dial screws engage an inner case ring, while four screws at the rear secure the bezel. Stainless-steel wire lugs complete the case and are unscrewed from the back to change the strap.
How the locking crown works
The crown assembly uses a spring-loaded pin and a locking ring. The review describes pressing the pin and turning the lower ring to unlock the main crown for winding or setting. Turning the ring back locks it again, a design intended to protect the case. This is the mechanism as described by Monochrome, rather than a claim of independent testing.

Dial and hands
The photographed commission has a green lacquer dial with white Arabic numerals and red-orange logo details. Bronze-colored Dauphine-style hour and minute hands contrast with a central seconds hand tipped in red. Fred makes dials in-house and works through design choices with customers, so the green dial and its specific colors should be treated as one customer’s configuration, not the only available design.
Movement and servicing
The reviewed watch houses a serviced New Old Stock Tenor Dorly 1390-series automatic movement. Monochrome lists 21 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, dimensions of 26 mm by 6.6 mm, and an approximate 48-hour power reserve. These are the review’s reported specifications for the movement in that example.

The maker’s site describes its NOS Tenor Dorley movements as being disassembled, cleaned, oiled and reassembled by master watchmaker Frans de Groot before installation. The review spells the name “Dorly”; the maker page uses “Dorley.”
Strap options and fit
Monochrome shows the watch on a leather strap with a pin buckle and reports rubber as an option. The wire lugs can be removed by unscrewing them from the case back. The review does not state the strap width or confirm compatibility with standard third-party straps, so ask the maker to verify dimensions and fit before ordering a replacement.

Price, availability and how to inquire
Monochrome’s 26 September 2024 article gave a starting price of €2,595 excluding VAT. That is a dated price report, not a verified current quote. The maker’s site does not establish current pricing, VAT treatment, lead time or order-book status. The official About page states an annual production limit of 24 watches, but does not give a publication date for that figure.
