The updated Sky-Dweller reference 336934 pairs an Oystersteel case and bracelet with a white-gold fluted bezel, rather than using steel throughout. Its mint-green dial gives the 42 mm watch a fresh look, while the calibre 9002 and Saros annual calendar preserve the model’s defining combination: local time, a second time zone and a month-by-month calendar display.
What “steel/Rolesor” means on this Sky-Dweller
Rolex calls the combination White Rolesor: Oystersteel for the 42 mm Oyster case and bracelet, with white gold for the fluted bezel. The bezel is therefore not steel, even though the watch’s overall appearance is cool-toned. Rolex says its fluted bezels are made in gold. The bezel is also part of the Ring Command system, which links its position with the winding crown and movement to select functions for adjustment. What changed in the 2023 update
The central update was the movement: calibre 9002 succeeded calibre 9001, which had powered the Sky-Dweller since the model’s 2012 launch. The change is visually restrained. Monochrome Watches’ 29 May 2023 hands-on report describes small coronets flanking the month indication at six o’clock and notes new dial colours, including mint green. The current Rolex page identifies this mint-green 336934 with calibre 9002. The new dial colour and small dial details are the visible distinctions; the second-time-zone and annual-calendar concept remains the Sky-Dweller’s core.
Monochrome’s report listed launch-era prices of €15,450 for the Oyster-bracelet version and €15,650 for the Jubilee-bracelet version. Those are historical euro prices reported in May 2023, not current prices or prices for other markets. Read the original hands-on report.

How to read the time and calendar
Local time and a second time zone
The central hands show local hours and minutes, with a central seconds hand. A separate off-centre disc completes one rotation in 24 hours and shows reference time; a red marker on the disc identifies that time. Because the disc distinguishes day from night, it helps prevent confusion when coordinating across time zones.
Saros annual calendar
The date appears at three o’clock beneath a Cyclops lens. The month is indicated by one of 12 apertures around the dial: the aperture corresponding to a month is marked. The Saros mechanism automatically accounts for the different lengths of 30- and 31-day months, so the date requires manual correction once a year, after February. Setting functions with Ring Command
Ring Command connects bezel positions to settings operated through the crown. It is a mechanical selector rather than a decorative rotating bezel. Rolex’s feature description explains how the bezel, crown and movement work together; consult the instructions for the specific watch before setting it.

What to consider before choosing it
- Size: At 42 mm, the Sky-Dweller has a substantial wrist presence. Consider how that diameter and the case’s overall proportions suit your wrist and preferred style.
- Dial and bezel: The mint-green dial is the distinguishing colour choice here; the white-gold fluted bezel adds a bright, polished frame. Neither is a neutral choice if you prefer a restrained dial or a less prominent bezel.
- Useful complications: The watch makes most sense if you will use a second time zone and value an annual calendar. If you only need local time and a date, much of its display and setting system may be more complexity than you need.
- Bracelet: The 336934 is offered with Oyster or Jubilee in Oystersteel. Choose based on the appearance and feel you prefer; the launch-era prices reported in 2023 do not establish a current price difference.
- Generation: Calibre 9002 distinguishes this updated version from earlier Sky-Dwellers using calibre 9001. The available specifications establish the movement change, but do not provide a current secondary-market comparison or a basis for claiming a particular resale premium.
Buying and servicing
Rolex says its watches may be sold and maintained only by official Rolex retailers. For authenticity, availability and service, use Rolex’s official retailer guidance and verify the retailer directly; the model’s presence in a search result or third-party listing alone does not establish authorised status.
