The Louis Vuitton Tambour Twenty is a 200-piece anniversary chronograph introduced in 2022 to mark 20 years of the Tambour collection. Its reported U.S. launch price was $17,800; that is a historical list price, not a current retail or resale quote. The appeal is in the contrast between the Tambour’s rounded, drum-shaped case, a brown sunburst dial and bright yellow chronograph hands, backed by an automatic movement based on Zenith’s El Primero.
What the Tambour Twenty celebrates
Louis Vuitton introduced the Tambour collection in 2002. The Twenty edition looks back to that launch with the collection’s distinctive drum-shaped case and a high-frequency automatic chronograph. Louis Vuitton’s current Tambour collection page describes a modern line and its LFT023 movement; that is a different movement from the LV 277 chronograph reported for the Twenty.
Contemporary launch coverage describes a limited run of 200 pieces, with boutique-only availability at launch. Hodinkee’s September 3, 2022 report and Monochrome Watches’ August 9, 2022 report provide the published specifications and launch details below.
Design and reported hands-on details
Drum-shaped steel case
The polished stainless-steel case measures 41.5 mm across and 13.2 mm thick, with reported water resistance of 100 m. The rounded caseband is engraved with the Louis Vuitton name aligned with the hour markers. Rectangular chronograph pushers sit beside an octagonal crown, reinforcing the case’s mix of rounded and angular forms.

Brown dial with high-contrast timing hands
The brown sunray dial combines applied Arabic numerals and baton markers with yellow chronograph hands. Its reported layout includes running seconds, a 30-minute elapsed-time register, a 12-hour chronograph counter at six, and a date display near 4:30. The yellow accents make the chronograph indications stand apart from the dial rather than blending into its brown finish.
Automatic LV 277 chronograph
The LV 277 is reported as an automatic, column-wheel chronograph based on Zenith’s El Primero. Published specifications list a 5 Hz rate (36,000 vibrations per hour), 31 jewels, a 50-hour power reserve, a 22-carat rose-gold rotor and 1/10-second chronograph indication. These are reported specifications, not independent measurements of accuracy or performance.

Strap and presentation
The watch was described with a dark-brown alligator leather strap, quick-exchange system and steel pin buckle. It was supplied in a miniature Louis Vuitton monogram trunk, an especially distinctive part of the presentation for an anniversary edition.

Price and availability: what the $17,800 figure means
Hodinkee and Monochrome Watches each reported a USD 17,800 launch price in 2022. The figure answers what the watch cost when introduced; it does not establish today’s Louis Vuitton retail price, whether any new examples remain available, or what a pre-owned example sells for. The cited launch coverage also does not establish present-day resale listings, completed sale prices or a value trend.

If evaluating a current offer, compare its asking price with the historical launch figure while treating the two as different kinds of information. Assess the seller’s documentation and provenance, the watch’s condition, whether the strap and miniature trunk are included, and the status of any warranty or service records. Those checks can help assess a particular listing, but the published launch reports do not verify any current seller or listing.

The Twenty is most distinctive as a retrospective Tambour: it connects the collection’s original 2002 identity to a high-frequency chronograph and anniversary packaging. The brown-and-yellow color scheme, engraved caseband and miniature trunk give it a more specific visual character than a straightforward steel sports chronograph. A buyer considering it should be drawn to those design cues and the limited-edition context, rather than treating the 2022 list price as evidence of present value.
