The “Zulu Time” is a Pelagos FXD GMT associated in 2024 launch coverage with the French Navy’s Aéronautique Navale. Fratello identifies it as reference 2542G247NU. It is a permanent, non-limited model according to Fratello’s launch report, rather than a numbered limited edition: Fratello Watches, 30 October 2024.
The FXD name matters for daily use: its strap bars are fixed rather than removable spring bars. The supplied green fabric strap is 22 mm wide, but that width alone does not guarantee that a replacement strap will attach. Check that any alternative is made to work with fixed bars before buying.
How does the Zulu Time’s GMT hand and bezel work?
The MT5652-U uses a flyer-style GMT arrangement. The local 12-hour hand moves independently when setting the watch, and the date follows that local hand. A separate 24-hour hand keeps track of a second time zone on the 24-hour scale. This is useful when travelling: you can adjust local time without losing your reference time.

- Set the reference time: use the crown to set the watch, including the 24-hour hand, against the 24-hour scale. For a precise crown procedure, follow the watch’s manual; the launch reports establish the hand functions but do not provide a full setting sequence.
- Adjust local time: advance or move the independent 12-hour hand to the local hour. The date changes with this hand, so take care around midnight when changing the date.
- Track another offset, if needed: rotate the bidirectional 24-hour bezel to align its scale with the 24-hour hand. The bezel then lets you read a further time-zone offset.

Launch reports also describe a silicon balance spring. The dial is matte black, with beige or custard-tone luminous details and an orange 24-hour hand. How does it wear?
The case measures 42 mm across and 52 mm from lug to lug, dimensions that make fit worth checking in person if possible. In his hands-on report, Fratello’s Jorg Weppelink found the watch substantial but not overly large on his 18.5 cm wrist; he cautioned that it may be too big for smaller wrists. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a universal fit rule.

Weppelink also found the combination of hands and bezel markings visually busy at first, though he felt the functions remained legible once worn. The design’s strong color contrast—black dial, beige markers, orange accents and green strap—makes it more conspicuous than a restrained, monochrome tool watch. Whether that works for you is a matter of taste, not a performance measure.
What did it cost at launch?
Two 2024 launch reports give different euro prices, and the discrepancy is unresolved. Fratello reported €4,740 including VAT; Monochrome listed €4,690, US$4,625 and CHF 4,350. These are publication-era launch prices, not confirmed 2026 prices, and the sources do not establish current stock or dealer availability.

It is a strong candidate for someone who wants a mechanical GMT with a locally adjustable hour hand, a 24-hour bezel and a purpose-built fabric-strap setup. Before choosing it, weigh the points that will most affect ownership:
- Fit: consider the 52 mm lug-to-lug length as well as the 42 mm diameter.
- GMT use: decide whether the independently adjustable local hand and separate 24-hour reference match how you travel or track time zones.
- Legibility and style: the orange hand, beige luminous details and bezel add useful visual distinctions, but create a busier look than a simple three-hand watch.
- Straps: fixed bars restrict replacement options; confirm attachment compatibility rather than relying on the 22 mm width alone.
- Price: treat the published launch figures as historical reference points, not a current offer.
