The 12 mm thickness often quoted for it excludes the raised crystal, so the full profile is taller than that number suggests. UNIMATIC’s launch page currently labels the edition sold out; that does not establish whether examples are available from resellers.
What is the U1S-PD5?
UNIMATIC describes the Modello Uno U1S-PD5 as a Made in Italy “Slim Professional Diver.” It is a specific limited edition, not simply a generic Modello Uno: the manufacturer says 500 individually numbered watches were made. The launch announcement calls it an evolution of the brand’s professional diving watch.
The model’s most notable specification is its 500 m / 50 atm water-resistance rating. This is UNIMATIC’s stated rating, and the brand says each watch is individually tested for accuracy and water resistance; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. A rating alone does not determine whether a watch is suitable for a particular dive, nor does it replace appropriate equipment and training.
Case size and wrist fit
UNIMATIC specifies a 40 mm case diameter and a 41.5 mm bezel diameter. Fratello’s January 17, 2024 review lists a 49 mm length and 12 mm thickness, with the thickness measured without the raised crystal. That distinction matters: the double-domed crystal is 3 mm thick, so the quoted 12 mm should not be read as the complete height from wrist to crystal top. The lugs are drilled and spaced 22 mm apart.

In his hands-on account, Fratello reviewer Jorg Weppelink describes the watch as substantial, with a solid-feeling case and bracelet. He praises the visual balance, brushed finish, and matte ceramic bezel. These are his wearing impressions, rather than measured or universal assessments of fit. He also tried the supplied straps and an optional bracelet.
Construction, dial, and bezel
The case is brushed 316 stainless steel. A screw-down crown and conversion-scale screw-down caseback complete the case construction. The matte black dial is paired with a matte black ceramic diving bezel insert, which has a 120-click unidirectional safety mechanism. UNIMATIC specifies Super-LumiNova BGW09 on the bezel markers. The dial and hands use the maker’s custom-emission orange luminous treatment on specified elements, while the minute hand uses BGW09.

The crystal is double-domed, 3 mm thick, and treated with anti-reflective coating on its inner surface. The maker’s launch announcement identifies the thicker crystal, upgraded crown mechanism, thicker screw-down caseback, and a double-rubber-O-ring crown arrangement as changes intended to support the PD5’s 500 m rating. Those are UNIMATIC’s design rationale, not independent findings about performance or reliability.
Movement and stated performance
The watch uses an automatic Sellita SW200-1 b, with manual winding and hacking seconds. UNIMATIC lists 28,800 beats per hour and 26 jewels. The specification sheet gives an accuracy range of +/− 7 to +/− 20 seconds per day, a minimum power reserve of 38 hours, and a typical reserve of 41 hours. These are the manufacturer’s published figures; no independent accuracy or reserve measurement is established here.

How the PD5 differs from the U1S-PD3
UNIMATIC’s launch announcement frames the PD5 as a more protected version of the related U1S-PD3. The principal published differences are the crystal and water-resistance rating:

Straps, bracelet, and what is included
The specification lists two supplied charcoal-grey straps: a two-piece TPU strap and a seatbelt-style NATO strap. Both use signed brushed stainless-steel hardware. The drilled lugs take 22 mm straps, which gives buyers a documented width to check when considering alternatives; strap length, attachment style, and buckle fit still need to suit the wearer.
An optional brushed-steel bracelet appears in Fratello’s review, which reports a €100 price at the time of publication. The bracelet is not listed among the two included straps in UNIMATIC’s specification.

Price and availability
Fratello reported historical launch prices of €1,200 on strap and €1,300 on bracelet, excluding VAT. For the Netherlands, the review gave approximate VAT-inclusive prices of €1,450 and €1,575, respectively. These are January 2024 review figures, not current quotes or an active offer.
UNIMATIC’s launch page currently labels the PD5 sold out. That status does not rule out resale or remaining retailer stock, but current inventory and secondary-market prices have not been established. Check the seller’s listing and condition details directly before relying on an asking price or availability claim.

What to weigh before buying
- Check the actual profile: the 12 mm thickness figure excludes the raised crystal; consider the 49 mm length and 41.5 mm bezel as well as the 40 mm case diameter.
- Confirm strap fit: the lugs are 22 mm wide, but strap length and hardware compatibility are separate considerations.
- Separate specifications from impressions: the 500 m rating, movement figures, and individual-testing statement come from UNIMATIC; the comments on solidity and visual balance are one reviewer’s impressions.
- Verify the transaction: the official page says sold out, and published 2024 launch prices are historical rather than current market values.
