In a hands-on review published July 1, 2025, Fratello’s Michael Stockton found its vivid palette unusual for a large Swiss brand. Whether it is the right travel watch depends on your taste—and on confirming how the dual bezels operate on the specific reference you are considering.
What makes the DS-X GMT stand out?
The most immediate distinction is color. The five configurations listed in Fratello’s July 1, 2025 hands-on article include a white-dial version with a blue rubber strap, plus gray-dial options paired with black or green rubber, or with a steel bracelet and contrasting bezel. Stockton wrote: “The vibrancy, the fun, and the color palette didn’t feel typical of a large Swiss brand.” That is an author’s impression, not evidence that the model has become a hit, but it captures the collection’s departure from more restrained travel-watch styling.
The watch combines that look with a useful travel complication: a separately jumping local hour hand. It is also a substantial-sized sports watch, so its 41 mm case and 48.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement are worth considering alongside the bright dial and bezel.
What are the DS-X GMT’s specifications?
Fratello reported the following specifications for the DS-X GMT in its July 1, 2025 review. These are published product details, not independent measurements for this article.

The same review describes Certina’s DS system as providing water, shock and scratch resistance. Stockton called the case substantial but not overly heavy and the rubber strap compliant; those are hands-on impressions rather than measured properties.
How does the quartz flyer-GMT work?
The ETA F06.865 is a quartz movement. Fratello describes the DS-X GMT as a flyer GMT because the local 12-hour hand can jump in one-hour increments without requiring the wearer to move the minute hand. That makes it convenient when crossing time zones: adjust the local hour while leaving the other time display undisturbed.

- Case Size: 41.00 mm, Band Width: 20.00 mm, Case Thickness: 13.80 mm
- Automatic movement, Powermatic 80 GMT, Nivachron, Index dial type, GMT
- Band Type : Sainless Steel, Band Length: 185 mm
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m / 660 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
- 2 Year International Warranty
- Use the first crown position to jump the 12-hour hand by one-hour increments. The review says this position also adjusts the date semi-quickly.
- Use the furthest crown position to advance the 24-hour hand together with the 12-hour and minute hands, according to the review’s description.
- Read the second time zone from the 24-hour hand against the GMT scale. The reviewer describes this hand as independently adjustable through the crown operation.
Because crown-setting sequences can be easy to misread from a summary, check the instructions for the exact reference before setting the date or changing time zones.
What do the two bezels do—and what remains uncertain?
The design pairs a 24-hour GMT bezel with an outer compass bezel. Fratello’s July 2025 review describes the GMT bezel as bidirectional and the compass bezel as friction-fitting and independently rotating. A Rivoli Group brand-highlight dated September 8, 2025 instead describes the compass bezel as rotating and the GMT bezel as fixed. Those accounts do not establish one universal operating arrangement across the collection.

- Case Size: 41.00 mm, Band Width: 20.00 mm, Case Thickness: 13.80 mm
- Automatic movement, Powermatic 80 GMT, Nivachron, Index dial type, GMT
- Band Type : Stainless Steel, Band Length: 179.45 mm
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m / 660 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
- 2 Year International Warranty
For that reason, do not assume the GMT bezel rotates—or that the compass bezel is the only rotating ring—based on a general description of the DS-X GMT. Check the operating instructions or test the bezel action on the exact reference before relying on it for navigation. The 24-hour hand provides the second-time-zone display; the compass ring is a separate feature and should not be treated as a substitute for a compass or navigation instrument.

Is the DS-X GMT a good fit for you?
The DS-X GMT is worth considering if you want a quartz watch with a jumping local hour hand, a second-time-zone display, and a color-forward sports-watch design. Its reported 200 m water resistance and screw-down crown also make it more suited to water-oriented use than a watch whose rating is substantially lower, subject to the manufacturer’s care and use guidance.
- Consider it if: you prefer quartz convenience, want a flyer-GMT adjustment, and like the DS-X’s distinctive color combinations.
- Check the fit first if: a 41 mm case or 48.2 mm lug-to-lug length may feel large on your wrist.
- Verify before buying if: rotating-bezel operation matters to you, or you are comparing current prices and warranty coverage across regions.
Fratello’s 2025 comparison with Seiko 5 GMT and Citizen Eco-Drive options was informal and tied to prices at that time; it is not a current like-for-like price comparison. For a present-day shortlist, compare movement and GMT adjustment, dimensions, crown design, water resistance, bezel operation, available colors, and local price.
