Honor announced the Watch GS 4 in China on March 18, 2024, with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, integrated dual-frequency GNSS/GPS, NFC, Bluetooth calling and a claimed battery life of up to 14 days. It officially went on sale in China on March 29, although Chinese retail coverage reported some earlier availability.
This is a China-market smartwatch rather than a confirmed global alternative to an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Wear OS model. Its NFC payment features are tied to China-oriented services such as WeChat Pay and Alipay, and no verified US or broader international launch timetable was established in the available launch coverage.
Honor Watch GS 4 price and release date
Honor unveiled the Watch GS 4 at a China launch event on March 18, 2024, alongside the Honor Band 9 and Magic6-series smartphones. Honor’s launch recap gave March 29 at 10:08 a.m. China time as the official first-sale date. Some Chinese retail reports described units being available from March 22, so the announcement date and retail date should not be confused.
| Version | China list price | Reported first-sale price |
|---|---|---|
| Starry Sky Exploration | CNY999 | CNY949 |
| Galaxy Shuttle | CNY1,199 | CNY1,149 |
| Jasper Astrolabe | CNY1,199 | CNY1,149 |
These are China prices from the launch period, not predictions of US or European retail pricing. Import costs, taxes, shipping, seller margins and warranty limitations would change the effective price overseas. As of August 18, 2026, the reviewed official Honor China shop URL did not provide a usable current Watch GS 4 listing or clear stock signal.

Display and design
The Watch GS 4 has a conventional full-size round smartwatch design built around a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel. Its 466 × 466 resolution works out to a reported 326 pixels per inch, which should make watch text, icons and watch faces look sharp on paper. AMOLED technology also allows individual pixels to switch off, producing deep blacks and high contrast.
The available launch material does not establish the panel’s peak brightness, outdoor readability, refresh rate or glass type. The resolution is a strong specification, but it is not evidence that the watch is exceptionally easy to read in direct sunlight.
Honor reported three finishes: Starry Sky Exploration, Galaxy Shuttle and Jasper Astrolabe. Jasper Astrolabe is described as having an 85% gold-plated or gold-treated finish in Chinese retail coverage. It should not be described as a solid-gold watch. Strap materials vary by version and include fluoroelastomer and leather.
What the built-in GPS does
The Watch GS 4 includes its own positioning hardware, so it can record outdoor activities without relying entirely on a paired phone’s location sensor. Honor-related coverage reports dual-frequency positioning and support for five major satellite systems.
That does not make the watch a cellular device. No LTE or eSIM capability was reported, and GPS is not the same as mobile data. Notifications, synchronization, internet-dependent services and many connected functions still depend on the phone.

- Stunning AMOLED Display – The 1.85-inch high-resolution AMOLED screen delivers vibrant colors and sharp contrast, ensuring excellent visibility even under sunlight. With customizable watch faces, it blends style and functionality seamlessly for everyday wear.
- Bluetooth Calling – Sync the watch with your smartphone via Bluetooth to make or answer calls directly from your wrist. Manage frequent contacts through the companion app for seamless communication
- 14-Day Battery Life – Equipped with a 330mAh battery, it lasts up to 14 days under typical usage with 24/7 heart rate monitoring. Magnetic charging ensures quick and hassle-free weekly recharging
- 24/7 Health Monitoring – Tracks heart rate, SpO2, sleep quality, stress levels, breathing exercises, and menstrual cycles. Alerts notify users of abnormal readings, while detailed data analysis offers insights into nighttime sleep and cardio-respiratory health.
- 109+ Training Modes – Supports 109 exercise modes, including outdoor activities synchronized with smartphone GPS for route mapping and performance tracking
Honor’s reported battery figure is up to 30 hours with GPS enabled. That is a manufacturer or launch specification rather than an independently measured result. The available evidence also does not establish tracking accuracy against Garmin, Apple, Samsung or dedicated sports watches. GPS recording should not be confused with onboard maps or turn-by-turn navigation; those capabilities were not established in the reviewed material.
Sports and health tracking
The watch supports more than 100 sports modes and reports activity through its motion sensors and integrated GNSS. Listed wellness functions include heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen or SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, stress tracking and air-pressure sensing, along with gyroscope and other motion sensors.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSome coverage also refers to blood-pressure measurement and atrial-fibrillation detection. Those claims should be treated cautiously: the reviewed sources do not provide clinical validation, accuracy testing, regulatory clearance or confirmation that every function is available in every country. These are wellness-monitoring features, not a substitute for medical diagnosis or professional care.
NFC payments are mainly a China-market feature
The Watch GS 4 includes NFC hardware and China-market coverage reports support for services including WeChat Pay and Alipay, as well as NFC-related transport functions. That does not mean the watch will make contactless payments everywhere.
NFC is only the hardware layer. Payment support also depends on the operating system, regional firmware, supported banks, service accounts, local transit systems and the companion app. The launch coverage does not confirm Google Wallet, Apple Pay, US bank support, UK or EU bank support, or overseas transit compatibility. Tech Advisor also highlighted the uncertainty around international payments and the absence of clear Google Pay support.
For an overseas buyer, the accurate description is “NFC payment support in China,” not “universal contactless payments.”

Battery life and charging
Honor claims up to 14 days of typical-use battery life. Secondary coverage reports a 451mAh battery, magnetic pogo-pin charging and a fast-charge claim of roughly one day’s use after five minutes of charging. The reported GPS endurance is up to 30 hours.
“Up to 14 days” is a usage-profile claim, not a standardized independent test. Continuous GPS, frequent Bluetooth calls, an always-on display, many notifications, high brightness and intensive health monitoring can all reduce endurance. The available sources do not establish real-world battery life under a consistent test method.
Software and phone compatibility
The Watch GS 4 runs Honor’s proprietary RTOS rather than Wear OS. That distinction matters more than the Android and iPhone compatibility headline. A proprietary smartwatch platform generally offers a more limited selection of third-party apps, watch faces, payment services and integrations than Wear OS or watchOS.
Reported phone compatibility is Android 9.0 or later and iOS 11 or later. Pairing with an Android phone or iPhone does not guarantee feature parity. Notifications, message replies, payment functions, health features, language support and regional services may work differently depending on the phone, firmware and market.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe RTOS also means buyers should not expect access to the full Google Play or Wear OS ecosystem, and the reviewed material does not establish a long-term update schedule.

An imported unit may be usable as a fitness watch, but the risks are significant:
- China-region firmware or services may restrict payments and transport functions.
- Warranty and returns may apply only in the original sales region.
- Language support may differ from the seller’s description.
- The Honor Health app may not expose every feature in every country.
- Seller claims of a “global model” should be checked against the exact model number and firmware region.
- GPS may work while maps, internet services or local payments do not.
- Phone pairing does not prove that iPhone message replies or overseas payments will work.
Before importing, confirm the exact model, supported languages, Honor Health compatibility, payment services, charger arrangement, warranty origin, return policy and whether the seller is authorized. Also remember that built-in GPS does not provide LTE calling or standalone internet access.
Who should consider it?
The Watch GS 4 makes the most sense for a China-based Honor user who wants a sharp AMOLED display, long claimed battery life, local payment support, Bluetooth calling and built-in GPS. It can also suit an importer who is comfortable treating it as a battery-focused fitness watch rather than a fully supported international smartwatch.
It is a poor fit for buyers who need Google Wallet, Apple Pay, local bank or transit compatibility, LTE, extensive third-party apps, independently tested GPS performance or a mature international warranty. Serious runners and cyclists should be especially cautious because the available launch evidence does not establish GPS accuracy or detailed training features.
Verdict
The Honor Watch GS 4 is a well-equipped China-market smartwatch on paper: its 1.43-inch, 466 × 466 AMOLED display, integrated GNSS, 5ATM water resistance, Bluetooth calling and claimed 14-day battery life are meaningful strengths. NFC and local payment support add value for the intended market.
For buyers outside China, however, the software and regional limitations matter more than the specification sheet. The proprietary RTOS limits the app ecosystem, NFC payments are not confirmed for Google Wallet, Apple Pay or overseas banks, and global availability, current stock and international warranty coverage remain unverified. Import it only if those limitations are acceptable and the seller can document the exact regional version.
