The King Seiko KS1969 references SJE109, SJE111, SJE113 and SJE115 make their strongest case with a slim, curved dress-watch profile and distinctive dial choices—not a long list of mechanical complications. The three standard models are differentiated chiefly by color; SJE115 adds an anniversary dial and a stated 700-piece production limit. At the US list price of $3,100 for each standard reference, the key question is whether the design and fit feel compelling enough to justify the spend, especially given Seiko’s stated accuracy tolerance of +15 to −10 seconds per day.
What is the difference between the SJE109, SJE111, SJE113 and SJE115?
The SJE109, SJE111 and SJE113 are the standard KS1969 models. Their most visible difference is the dial: silver, purple and green gradient, respectively. SJE115 is a 100th-anniversary limited edition with a textured light blue-green dial and an announced production limit of 700 pieces. Seiko said the four watches share specifications.
| Reference | Dial and Seiko’s design concept | Edition status | Official US price evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| SJE109 | Silver; texture inspired by the cityscape of modern Tokyo | Standard KS1969 | $3,100 on Seiko’s US lineup, observed October 4, 2026; Seiko’s June 2024 launch announcement also stated $3,100 |
| SJE111 | Purple; described by Seiko as “Edo purple” | Standard KS1969 | $3,100 on Seiko’s US lineup and detailed product page, observed October 4, 2026; launch announcement also stated $3,100 |
| SJE113 | Green gradient; inspired by greenery in the city | Standard KS1969 | $3,100 on Seiko’s US lineup, observed October 4, 2026; Seiko’s June 2024 launch announcement also stated $3,100 |
| SJE115 | Textured light blue-green; inspired by a rising dragon | 100th-anniversary limited edition; announced production limit of 700 pieces | $3,100 recommended US retail price in Seiko’s June 2024 launch announcement; not listed on the current US lineup page reviewed October 4, 2026 |
These are Seiko’s stated design inspirations, not promises that every buyer will read the colors or textures the same way. The 700-piece figure is the announced production limit; it does not tell you whether the SJE115 is currently available or how many remain. Why the KS1969 design is more than a dial-color exercise
Seiko traces the KS1969 series to the 1969 King Seiko 45KCM. The modern watches reinterpret its curved silhouette in a dress-watch format, with a 9.9 mm-thick case and a rounded, box-shaped sapphire crystal. The case and bracelet combine mirror-polished and brushed surfaces, giving the design a mix of shine and texture.
#1 Best Overall
- KHAKI GREEN DIAL: this rugged sports watch features a khaki green dial patterned to mirror the shape of the bezel’s edge, with Lumibrite dial indicator hands and markers for low light and a magnified day/date calendar
- BLACK BEZEL: this versatile men’s watch features a black ceramic unidirectional bezel with distinctive scalloped edging, for elapsed timing
- AUTOMATIC & MANUAL: SRPE05 automatic watches for men power up with your natural movements, and feature the ability to wind manually, with 41 hours of reserve power
- WATER-RESISTANT: these rugged stainless steel dive watches for men feature a khaki green silicon strap, and are both stylish and robust, following ISO standards for scuba, and are water-resistant to 200 meters
- 4R36 CALIBER: equipped with the reliable 4R36 caliber, these precise men’s wrist watches ensure the most accurate timekeeping
The multi-row bracelet uses shorter links, and Seiko describes its low center of gravity as a comfort-oriented choice. A faceted index at 12 o’clock is said to evoke arrow fletching associated with traditional Japanese archery. Those are the manufacturer’s design intentions; they are not independent findings about how the bracelet wears or how the details look on every wrist. Seiko’s KS1969 design page describes the collection’s inspiration.
What are the SJE111’s dimensions and specifications?
Seiko’s detailed US SJE111 product page lists the following specifications. Seiko’s launch announcement says the four references share specifications, but the detailed measurements below are published on the SJE111 page.

- AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT: Seiko 4R35 automatic movement with manual winding, 23 jewels, stop-second function, date display, and approximately 41-hour power reserve.

- Crystal: box-shaped sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating.
- Bracelet: 19 mm lug spacing; listed bracelet length of 200.0; push-button deployment clasp. Seiko’s listing does not make bracelet length a guarantee of fit, so assess adjustment and wrist fit before buying.
- Weight: 126 g.
- Water and magnetic resistance: 5 bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. The 5 bar rating is a specification, not a blanket recommendation for every water activity.
- Movement: automatic Seiko Caliber 6L35 with manual winding, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 26 jewels and approximately 45 hours of power reserve.
- Functions: date and stop-seconds.
- Stated precision: +15 to −10 seconds per day.
That precision figure is Seiko’s stated specification, not an independent measurement of long-term performance. The detailed figures are from the official SJE111 product page; movement details also appear in the launch announcement.
How to choose among the four
- Compare the dials in person if possible. Color and texture are the central distinctions among the references. Lighting can change how a dial reads, so product photography alone may not settle which one suits you.
- Decide whether the anniversary edition matters to you. SJE115’s appeal includes its distinct dial and limited-edition designation. The announced production limit does not establish current stock or remaining quantity.
- Check the dimensions against your wrist. Consider the 39.4 mm diameter, 43.6 mm lug-to-lug length and 9.9 mm thickness together, then assess the bracelet’s fit and adjustment rather than relying on its listed length.
- Verify the local offer before paying. Seiko’s current US lineup lists the three standard references at $3,100 each, but list price does not establish a retailer’s transaction price or live stock. Check the seller, regional warranty and current price; availability and terms can differ outside the United States.
Is the King Seiko KS1969 worth considering?
The KS1969’s appeal is specific: a slim profile, a curved vintage reference and a bracelet and dial treatment that stand apart from a plain, conventional dress watch. The standard models give you three markedly different dial identities at the same listed US price. SJE115 offers a fourth look and an announced limited-edition status, but its current availability cannot be inferred from that designation.
Rank #3
- WATER-RESISTANT: these water-resistant men's dive watches are ISO scuba-approved to depths of 200 meters
- AUTOMATIC: these self-winding, automatic men's watches are powered by your movement, with a power reserve of 41 hours
- STAINLESS STEEL: features a durable stainless steel watch case and bracelet with a blue ceramic uni-directional elapsed timing bezel
- SPECIAL EDITION: this men's watch features an intricately patterned blue dial inspired by turtle shells, promoting ocean exploration and conservation
- 4R36 CALIBER: equipped with the reliable caliber 4R36 automatic movement, this accurate men's watch keeps precise time
The counterpoint is value. At $3,100 on Seiko’s US lineup for the standard references, buyers should be comfortable with both the design and the stated +15 to −10 seconds-per-day precision specification. Try the watch on, compare dial colors in real light and verify the seller’s terms before deciding; the official list price alone cannot tell you what a particular retailer will charge or whether a watch is in stock.
