The Gerald Charles Masterlink keeps the Maestro’s recognizable curved “smile” at six o’clock, but changes its rectangular design basis to a square and adds the Maison’s first asymmetrical integrated bracelet. Gerald Charles presents the watch as a contemporary evolution of the Maestro case associated with its founder and designer, Gérald Charles Genta.
How does the Masterlink differ from the Maestro?
Gerald Charles describes the Maestro as built around a rectangle and the Masterlink as based on a square. The shared visual cue is the curved case edge at six o’clock, which the Maison calls the “smile.” In the brand’s account, that detail carries Maestro design language into a more contained, square-based silhouette.
This lineage and design intent are Gerald Charles’s own claims, set out in its official April and July 2024 launch coverage; they are not independent historical verification.
Why is the integrated bracelet central to the design?
The bracelet is more than a strap attached to the case: Gerald Charles calls it the Maison’s first integrated bracelet, and says its asymmetrical links were developed to follow the case’s changing outline.

What is the Sarawak connection?
Gerald Charles identifies a customized one-off Sarawak integrated-bracelet watch, designed by Genta in 2007 for the Royal family of Sarawak, as the Masterlink’s precursor. The Maison calls it the first and last known asymmetrical integrated-bracelet timepiece created by Genta, and describes the Masterlink as the first such watch on the market today. Those historical and superlative descriptions should be understood as the brand’s account.

What the Masterlink’s evolution amounts to
The Masterlink preserves one conspicuous Maestro cue—the six-o’clock smile—while shifting the case from a rectangle to a square. Its defining change is the integrated bracelet, whose asymmetric links trace the case rather than simply continuing as a conventional band. Gerald Charles connects that approach to Genta’s 2007 Sarawak one-off, while later calendar and Atelier variants show that the Masterlink name now covers distinct configurations.
