The account below reflects a June 2025 interview, not a current audit of the company’s operations.
What does TEAL make?
TEAL has expanded beyond equipment associated with watchmaking into turnkey automation for electronics and automotive production, alongside high-precision manufacturing. These are distinct parts of its business: designing and integrating production lines is not the same work as machining or manufacturing aerospace components.
In the interview, TEAL described automation applications including mobile-device assembly and vehicle electronics. Automotive examples included motor controllers, battery-management systems and onboard chargers. The company also serves aerospace and defense applications through manufacturing work.
How does TEAL customize a production line?
The process described by managing director Sridhar Neelakantan begins before equipment is purchased. The customer’s design, manufacturing and maintenance teams define requirements with TEAL, which co-develops the line around the product and production needs.

“Typically, when a customer is launching a new product, their engineering teams—design, manufacturing, maintenance—all come together to define the requirements. We co-develop the line with them. Only after that does the discussion move to procurement,” said Sridhar Neelakantan, managing director of TEAL.
TEAL’s reported turnkey scope includes design, fabrication, integration, testing and assembly in India, followed by delivery to the customer. Neelakantan described the approach this way: “We give a complete turnkey solution, build the whole line, test it here, and then take it to the customer.” Local support, training, retrofits and maintenance arrangements are tailored to customer preference, according to the interview.

What technology and components are involved?
The interview lists robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, servo systems, pneumatics and hydraulics among the components used in automation systems. It also describes TEAL’s Industry 4.0 platform, I4 Metrics, and deep-learning vision systems. The cited account provides no independent performance tests, technical specifications or head-to-head comparisons for these capabilities.
What is made in India, and what is sourced abroad?
Neelakantan said TEAL conducts design, fabrication, integration and testing locally, while sourcing some materials and components internationally and using domestic suppliers for non-critical parts. He estimated in the 2025 interview that imported material accounted for around 25–30%; this is his estimate, not an audited sourcing breakdown.

He also said special processes such as chemical treatments were outsourced only with customer approval, and that aerospace customers often restrict outsourcing. Those statements describe the company’s reported practices, rather than independently verified process data.
How large was TEAL’s operation in the 2025 account?
EE Times reported the following figures from its June 2025 interview with Neelakantan. They are dated company figures, not independently audited statistics or confirmation of the company’s footprint today.

How is TEAL extending into aerospace and other sectors?
TEAL’s precision manufacturing business should be distinguished from its automation systems work. In February 2025, Safran Aircraft Engines announced a contract with TEAL for low-pressure turbine components for LEAP engines. Production was expected to begin in 2026; the cited sources do not confirm that production has started.
The 2025 interview also described opportunities TEAL was pursuing in outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT), including packaging, assembly and wafer handling, as well as solar wafer and panel production. These were opportunity areas, not confirmed contracts or delivered projects in the cited account.

What should a buyer compare when considering a custom automation partner?
The interview suggests practical questions for evaluating a supplier, but it does not establish that TEAL outperforms competitors. A buyer can use these dimensions to compare proposals:
- Engineering before procurement: Will the supplier work with design, production and maintenance teams to define requirements before equipment is specified?
- Turnkey responsibility: Which stages—design, fabrication, integration, testing, installation and commissioning—are included in the supplier’s scope?
- Support after delivery: What local service, training, retrofit and maintenance arrangements are available, and which are included or optional?
- Application fit: Has the supplier worked with the product type and manufacturing changes the line must accommodate?
- Sourcing exposure: Which parts are imported, what alternatives exist, and how could supply delays affect maintenance or upgrades?
- Lifecycle cost: Compare the initial equipment price with support, downtime, logistics and the cost of adapting the line as products change. The interview discusses these considerations but supplies no independently measured cost comparison.
Neelakantan characterized the wider moment as “an inflection point for India as far as manufacturing is concerned.” That is his outlook, not proof of an industry-wide trend.

The main account is Yashasvini Razdan’s June 3, 2025 EE Times interview with TEAL. TEAL published a June 6, 2025 reproduction; it repeats the underlying reporting and is not independent corroboration. The company’s news index lists later coverage, but a headline alone does not establish the details of a forecast. Accordingly, the operating figures and opportunity areas here are presented as reported in 2025 rather than as verified current status.
