If your Galaxy Watch is connected to your phone, correct the date, time, or time zone on the phone first. Samsung says a connected watch syncs its date and time from the phone, so the watch’s own controls may be unavailable. If the watch is disconnected, try Settings → General → Date and time on the watch; the options depend on its model and software.
Check whether the watch is connected
This is the key to choosing the right fix. For a paired Galaxy Watch, the phone is normally the source of the synchronized date and time. Samsung says manual editing on Wear OS watches is available when the watch is disconnected; a grayed-out Date and time setting is expected when it is paired. See Samsung’s date-and-time instructions.
- Connected: Change the relevant setting on the phone and let the watch synchronize.
- Disconnected: Reconnect the watch if possible. If you cannot, check whether its Date and time controls are available and set the values there.
Samsung’s instructions cover Wear OS and older Tizen models, but menu labels and available options can vary by watch and software version.
Correct the time on a connected Galaxy Watch
- Open the phone’s Settings app and search for Date and time. The exact menu path and wording vary across phones and software versions.
- Check that Automatic date and time is enabled. Also enable Automatic time zone if the option is available.
- If the automatic values are wrong, check the phone’s time zone and its network, region, or location information. If needed, temporarily turn off the relevant automatic setting, enter the correct value, then turn automatic settings back on.
- Reopen or reconnect the Galaxy Wearable app if the watch does not update. Allow time for synchronization, then check the watch face.
If the phone shows the wrong time too, fix the phone first: changing a watch setting will not correct the source it normally follows.

Set the time on a disconnected watch
When you cannot reconnect the watch, manual adjustment may provide a temporary fix if the controls are available:
- Wake the watch and open its app list.
- Tap Settings → General → Date and time.
- Choose the available control—such as Date, Time, Time zone, or Automatic date and time—and enter or select the correct value.
- Return to the watch face and check the displayed time.
Not every model shows every option. Samsung identifies time-zone selection as available only on some watches, and menu labels can differ. Once a Wear OS watch reconnects, it synchronizes with the phone again, so an offline manual change may be replaced.

Change the time zone, not just the clock reading
If the watch is paired, correct the time zone on the phone and let the watch sync. If it is offline, look for a time-zone option under Settings → General → Date and time; use it only if your model offers it. Manually changing the clock to compensate for the wrong time zone can leave the watch out of step when it reconnects.
Switch between 12-hour and 24-hour display
Clock format changes how the time is shown; it does not change the underlying time or time zone. Depending on the watch and software, the format may follow the phone or be controlled by a watch setting. Search the phone’s Settings for a time-format option, or inspect the watch’s display or date-and-time settings for labels such as 12-hour format or 24-hour format. There is no single path established for every Galaxy Watch, so use the setting shown on your device.

Troubleshoot a watch that still shows the wrong time
The watch is one hour off
Check the phone’s time zone and automatic time-zone setting first. A daylight-saving-time change or disabled automatic detection could be involved, but neither is certain from the offset alone. Also check whether the watch face is showing a second time zone rather than the system clock.
The time became wrong after travel
On a paired watch, verify that the phone has moved to the correct time zone and that automatic time-zone detection is enabled if available. If the watch was disconnected during the trip, reconnect it and allow it to sync. If the phone’s time zone is still wrong, the watch may follow that incorrect value.

Only one watch face or complication is wrong
Check whether the system time is wrong throughout the watch or only in one place. A face or complication may display UTC, home time, or another time zone. If other clock displays are correct, inspect that face’s settings before changing the system date or time.
The setting is missing, disabled, or the watch will not update
- Check whether the watch is connected. If it is, use the phone’s Date and time settings rather than trying to edit the watch.
- Confirm the phone’s date, time, and time zone, including its automatic settings where available.
- Reopen Galaxy Wearable and reconnect the watch; check the displayed time again.
- If the time remains wrong, restart the phone and watch, then check whether the problem affects every clock display or only a particular face or complication.
These last recovery steps are practical troubleshooting suggestions; results can depend on the device and software. An LTE connection does not by itself establish that a watch is using an independent time source: its pairing and connection state still matter.

Wear OS and older Tizen watches
Galaxy Watch4 and newer models use Wear OS; older Galaxy Watch generations use Tizen. The connected-phone versus disconnected-watch distinction is useful across Samsung’s guidance, but do not assume every generation has identical screens or manual controls. Follow the labels actually shown on your watch.
