Health-data syncing is a separate step: confirm the watch is connected, then enable Samsung Health sync and run a manual sync if needed. Compatibility and labels vary by watch model, phone, software and region, so check Samsung’s requirements for your exact model before starting.
Check whether your phone and Galaxy Watch are compatible
Galaxy Watch compatibility depends on the watch generation and operating system. Samsung’s Canada compatibility table, updated September 11, 2026, lists Android requirements by series and notes that some watches may not work even when a phone appears to meet the minimum specifications. It also lists Watch4 and later models as unsupported on iOS. Check the compatibility requirements for your precise model and region before pairing.
Samsung’s U.S. setup instructions likewise say Wear OS Galaxy Watches are not compatible with iOS; certain older models have separate iPhone support. Do not assume that an older watch’s iPhone support applies to newer generations. Samsung also notes that some features, including Samsung Pay and Email in its referenced setup instructions, are unavailable when the watch is paired with a non-Samsung Android phone. See Samsung’s setup instructions for Galaxy smart watches for the supported route and feature caveats.
Pair the watch with an Android phone
- Install Galaxy Wearable. Get the app from the Play Store; Samsung phones may also offer it through Galaxy Store.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone and make sure the watch is powered on and nearby.
- Open Galaxy Wearable and tap Start. Select your watch when it appears, then follow the phone and watch prompts to confirm pairing.
- Complete any additional setup. Depending on the model and phone, prompts may include permissions, a Samsung account, restoring a backup or carrier activation.
If Galaxy Wearable already manages another device, the app may show an option such as Add new device. Exact wording and screens vary by app version. Samsung’s setup guide covers phone-based setup and the separate options available on some watches.

Make Samsung Health data appear on the phone
A Bluetooth connection through Galaxy Wearable does not by itself confirm that Samsung Health account or cloud syncing is enabled. First check the connection, then verify Samsung Health’s sync settings.
- Confirm the Bluetooth connection: open Galaxy Wearable and check that the watch is connected to the phone.
- Open Samsung Health settings: enable the option to sync with your Samsung account or Samsung Cloud, as named in your app version.
- Run a manual sync: tap Sync now if that control is available.
Samsung’s U.S. troubleshooting steps explain the connection and sync checks in Samsung Health data is not syncing between a Galaxy watch and phone. Samsung Canada also documents the account-sync controls and an optional Wi-Fi-only sync setting; labels may differ by market and version. See Sync your data in Samsung Health on your Galaxy phone.

Troubleshoot a Samsung Health sync that is stuck or incomplete
After checking the connection and Samsung Health sync setting, retry the sync after each check below. Resetting should be a later step, not the first response.
- Check watch modes: Power saving, Airplane and Watch only modes can restrict syncing. Turn them off if appropriate, then try again.
- Check connectivity: ensure the phone has a working network connection if your sync path requires one. If using the optional Wi-Fi-only setting, confirm Wi-Fi is available.
- Update the apps: check for updates to Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health, then try syncing again.
- Restart the watch: if the previous checks do not help, restart it and attempt another sync.
- Back up before resetting: Samsung advises backing up before resetting the watch or app. Follow its troubleshooting page before using reset as a recovery step.
If you set up the watch without a phone, Samsung says the most recent activity may be stored only on the watch and may not appear on the phone. See Samsung’s sync troubleshooting instructions for its full recovery guidance.

Move a Galaxy Watch to a new phone without avoidable data loss
Back up before beginning a transfer. Samsung says reconnecting can reset the watch and remove existing data, depending on the model and software. A backup is therefore important even if you expect to keep using the same watch.
- Back up from the old phone, where available: in Galaxy Wearable, open Watch settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data.
- Start the transfer on the watch: use the watch’s option to connect to a new phone and follow its prompts.
- Finish setup on the new phone: install or open Galaxy Wearable, select the watch and complete pairing and any offered restore steps.
Menu wording and availability vary by model and software. Samsung’s new-phone reconnection instructions describe the transfer; its watch data-loss prevention guidance covers backup considerations. Samsung cautions that some data may not transfer when restoring from a Tizen watch to a Wear OS watch, so do not assume every setting, app, message or health record will be restored.

A Wear OS Galaxy Watch can track data in Samsung Health and Google Fit, but the services do not sync data with each other. If information is missing from one, syncing the watch with its phone does not automatically move that information into the other app. Samsung explains the distinction in Google Fit trackers on Wear OS Galaxy Watches.
