The fastest way to ping your iPhone in watchOS 10
- Press the Apple Watch side button to open Control Center.
- Tap Ping iPhone.
- Listen for the sound from your iPhone. If the sound is hard to locate, touch and hold Ping iPhone to make the iPhone flash too.
The quick ping is for finding a nearby iPhone. Apple’s instructions are in Ping your iPhone with Apple Watch.
What if the iPhone is out of range?
The Apple Watch ping is not the remote-finding method. If your iPhone is out of range, use Find My on another available Apple device or Find Devices on iCloud.com to check its location when available.
Find My must have been enabled before the iPhone was lost. If the device is offline, a requested sound does not play immediately; Apple says it remains pending until the iPhone reconnects to Wi-Fi or cellular. See Apple’s guide to locating a device in Find My.

When Precision Finding is available
Precision Finding is an optional enhancement, separate from the basic sound ping. On supported and available models, it can show a general heading and distance to help guide you toward the iPhone. Apple’s current guide lists Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and iPhone 15 and later among the supported devices, with exclusions and regional availability caveats. The basic Ping iPhone sound does not require Precision Finding. Check Apple’s current instructions for eligibility.
