Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your Apple Watch Calendar is not syncing, first check whether the event is missing only from the Watch or is also missing or outdated on your iPhone. Check the event’s source account, the calendars selected in the Watch app, and the connection between the devices; if those checks do not help, try Apple’s Reset Sync Data option. If the event appears but its alert does not, troubleshoot notifications separately.
Work through these checks before unpairing your Watch. Unpairing is a broader pairing step, not a first-line fix for a hidden calendar, an account refresh delay, or a notification setting.
Start here: identify what is failing
| What you see | Where to start |
|---|---|
| The event is missing only from Apple Watch | Check the selected calendars in the Watch app, then check the Watch–iPhone connection and sync. |
| The event is missing or outdated on iPhone too | Check the event’s source account and whether that calendar has refreshed. |
| The event is visible, but no alert arrives | Check Calendar notification settings on the iPhone and Watch. |
Apple says that, by default, events added in Calendar on Apple Watch sync to iPhone, and vice versa. See Apple Support’s Apple Watch Calendar guide.
1. Check the event and its source calendar
- Open Calendar on your iPhone and confirm that the event is present and belongs to the calendar you expect.
- Open Calendar on Apple Watch and check whether the event appears there.
- If the event is missing or outdated on iPhone too, troubleshoot the source account before treating it as a Watch sync problem.
iPhone Calendar can use iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo, and CalDAV accounts. An event may be visible on iPhone without belonging to iCloud, so check the event’s calendar and account. Apple documents account settings under Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts.

Accounts without Push may update on a Fetch schedule. Check Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts > Fetch New Data. Apple says that with Automatically selected, new data is downloaded when iPhone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi. A delay may therefore come from the source account rather than the Watch pairing. See Apple’s iPhone Calendar settings guide.
2. Check which calendars the Watch displays
A calendar that is not selected in the Watch app can make its events appear to be missing from the Watch even when the source calendar is working.
- On the paired iPhone, open the Watch app.
- Tap My Watch, then Apps > Calendar.
- Check the selected calendars and enable the calendar containing the event.
Apple’s Watch Calendar guide describes calendar display and alert choices in the Watch app. Check calendar selection before resetting sync data.

3. Check iCloud Calendar settings if applicable
If the affected event is in iCloud, check that the iPhone and Watch use the same Apple Account, Calendar is enabled for iCloud, both devices have current available software, and the iPhone’s date and time settings are correct. Also check Apple’s System Status page for a Calendar service interruption. These checks help distinguish an account or service issue from a Watch pairing problem. See Apple’s iCloud Calendar sync troubleshooting.

- Keep the Watch and paired iPhone close together.
- Make sure Airplane Mode is off. Confirm Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on for the iPhone.
- Check Control Center for a red iPhone or red X indicator on the Watch, which can indicate disconnection.
- Restart both devices, then check Calendar again.
Apple’s connection guidance also describes a green iPhone indicator when connected. If the devices remain disconnected after these checks, follow Apple’s Apple Watch connection troubleshooting.
5. Reset Calendar sync data
If the source account, selected calendars, and device connection are all in order but events still do not sync, use Apple’s built-in sync reset:

- Open the Watch app on the iPhone.
- Tap My Watch > General > Reset.
- Tap Reset Sync Data, then check Calendar again.
Apple says this option is unavailable when a family member set up the Apple Watch. If you do not see it, continue with the account and connection checks or contact Apple Support. See Apple’s iCloud Calendar sync troubleshooting.
6. Troubleshoot missing alerts separately
If the event appears in Calendar on the Watch but no reminder arrives, the problem is notification delivery rather than missing event data. Check Watch > My Watch > Notifications > Calendar and review whether notifications mirror the iPhone or use custom settings. Calendar alerts can be tailored by calendar or event type. See Apple’s Apple Watch notification settings guide.
7. Unpair only after simpler checks fail
If the Watch remains disconnected or Calendar still fails after checking the account, calendar selection, connection, and sync reset, Apple lists unpairing and pairing again as a further connection troubleshooting step. This interrupts setup, so do not use it for a hidden calendar or a notification issue. Follow Apple’s connection guidance or contact Apple Support if you are unsure whether to proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a calendar event on my iPhone but not my Apple Watch?
The Watch may not be set to display the calendar containing the event, or the devices may not be connected or have completed syncing. Check the selected calendars in the Watch app and the device connection.
How do I force my Apple Watch to sync Calendar?
On the paired iPhone, open the Watch app and tap My Watch > General > Reset > Reset Sync Data. Apple says this option is unavailable when a family member set up the Watch.
What if the event is missing from my iPhone too?
Check which account and calendar contain the event, whether that account is enabled, and whether its Fetch schedule may delay new data. Resolve the source-calendar issue before troubleshooting Watch sync.

Why is the event visible but my Apple Watch does not alert me?
Check Watch > My Watch > Notifications > Calendar. Calendar alerts can use mirrored or custom notification settings, so a missing alert does not necessarily mean the event failed to sync.
Should I unpair my Apple Watch to fix Calendar?
Only consider unpairing after checking the account, calendar selection, connection, and sync reset. It is a broader pairing step and is not needed to correct a hidden calendar or notification setting.
The Bottom Line
For a missing Apple Watch calendar event, check whether it is present on iPhone, verify its account and the calendars selected in the Watch app, and confirm that the devices are connected. If those checks do not help, try Reset Sync Data; troubleshoot alerts separately, and reserve unpairing for persistent connection or pairing problems.
