Windows 10 alone is not the supported setup route for current Fitbit devices. You need a compatible iPhone or Android phone with the Google Health app; if you do not have one, borrow or use a compatible phone to complete setup.
Google lists Android 11 or higher and iOS 16.4 or higher as app requirements. Setup must start in Google Health, not in Windows Bluetooth settings or your phone’s Bluetooth screen.
What you need
- A Fitbit device supported by the app.
- A compatible iPhone or Android phone running Android 11 or higher, or iOS 16.4 or higher. Some phone models may still have compatibility issues.
- The Google Health app and a Google Account. If you used a Fitbit account, you need to move to a Google Account to use Google Health.
- Your Fitbit charged, with Bluetooth enabled on the phone.
How to set up Fitbit when you have Windows 10
- Charge your Fitbit before setup.
- On a compatible iPhone or Android phone, install or update the Google Health app.
- Sign in with your Google Account. If you previously used a Fitbit account, follow Google’s account-migration instructions.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone and keep the Fitbit nearby.
- Open Google Health and follow the on-screen instructions to add your Fitbit. Do not try to complete setup from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- After setup, keep the Fitbit near the phone to sync. Fitbit devices sync with the phone app over Bluetooth Low Energy.
What can Windows 10 do?
A Windows 10 PC cannot replace the compatible phone required for current Fitbit setup. Pairing a device in Windows Bluetooth settings does not complete its Fitbit app and account setup. If you have no compatible phone available, borrow or use one rather than relying on a Windows app, Bluetooth adapter, or USB sync dongle.
Why do older instructions mention Windows?
Some older Fitbit manuals described Windows 10 setup for selected legacy products. Those instructions are model-specific and do not describe the current setup route for the latest Fitbit devices. Check the instructions for your exact model if you own an older device; do not assume an old Windows workflow applies to a current Fitbit.

Troubleshooting setup
If setup fails on a compatible phone, try these steps in order:
- Turn Bluetooth off on the phone, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Restart both the Fitbit and the phone.
- If applicable, remove other Fitbit devices from your account.
- Forget the Fitbit in the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then retry setup from Google Health.
- Before reinstalling Google Health, check that the phone still meets the app’s operating-system requirements.
If setup still does not work, consult Google’s device-specific instructions or contact Customer Support. Button sequences and other device steps vary by model.

Can I set up a current Fitbit using only Windows 10?
No. Current setup requires a compatible iPhone or Android phone and the Google Health app. A Windows 10 PC is not a substitute.
Which phones can run the Google Health app?
Google lists Android 11 or higher and iOS 16.4 or higher. Some phone models may still have compatibility issues, so check support for your device.

Can I pair my Fitbit from Bluetooth settings?
No. Start setup in Google Health and follow its on-screen instructions. Pairing from the phone’s Bluetooth screen does not complete Fitbit setup.
What happened to the Fitbit app?
Google began transitioning the Fitbit app to Google Health on May 19, 2026. Google said most users were expected to receive the app update between May 19 and May 26, 2026. Former Fitbit-account users need to move their account to Google to use Google Health.
