Fitbit-account support ended on May 19, 2026, so continuing to use the service requires a Google Account. Review the data and setup before confirming: the move can be canceled until its final step, but cannot be undone afterward.
Which account should you use?
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You have not moved your Fitbit account | In Google Health, sign in with the existing Fitbit account and follow the move-account notification. |
| Your Fitbit account uses a Gmail address | It may still be a separate Fitbit account. Sign in to Google Health using that address, open Settings, and follow the migration notification if it appears. |
| You already moved your Fitbit account | Use the Google Account you selected during migration to sign in to Google Health. |
| You want to use a Google Workspace account | Google says a Google Health account cannot be linked to a Workspace account. Use another Google Account or create one. |
How to move your Fitbit account to a Google Account
- Open the Google Health app.
- Sign in with your existing Fitbit account credentials.
- Select the notification prompting you to move your Fitbit account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Review the data and setup, and check the destination Google Account before the final confirmation.
- After migration, sign in to Google Health with that Google Account.
Google says the process takes a few minutes. It lets you review and make changes to your Fitbit data and setup, and selected historical data is retained. You can cancel before the final step; once completed, the move cannot be undone. See Google’s current account-migration guidance.
What if you cannot find the migration prompt?
Google says it would begin processing data deletions for accounts that had not been moved on July 15, 2026. Its help information says some users might still be able to migrate during that processing period, but it does not establish whether any particular account is recoverable now. Do not assume recovery is available or guaranteed.
- Open Google Health and try signing in with the original Fitbit account credentials.
- If the Fitbit account uses a Gmail address, check Settings for the move notification.
- If no prompt appears or you cannot sign in, contact Google support to ask about your account’s status.
What happens to your data?
Google says data moved to Google is associated with your Google Account. The migration flow lets you review and change data and setup before confirming, and Google says selected historical data is retained. Review the choices shown in the app before completing the irreversible move.
