Fitbit data can appear in Apple Health only if your current Fitbit or Google Health app—or a compatible third-party sync app—offers a connection and you grant it access. The official guidance reviewed does not establish a universal Fitbit-to-Apple-Health setup flow, eligible account configurations, or how much Fitbit history transfers. Check the connection options in your app before relying on a particular set of steps or expecting a full historical import.
Check whether your app currently supports Apple Health
Start by updating the Fitbit or Google Health app on your iPhone, then look in its connected-apps, partner-apps, or sharing area for an Apple Health option. Google Health documents Apple Health connections for supported partners, but its help page does not confirm that a Fitbit-specific connection is available to every user or specify a universal menu path. See Google Health’s guidance on connecting third-party devices and apps and check the screens and help information for your app version.
There is a time-sensitive compatibility issue: Google says Fitbit partner connections are due to retire on October 30, 2026 unless the partner updates to the required infrastructure and the user reconnects. On October 8, 2026, whether a particular partner has completed that update is not established here. If you already use a partner connection, check its current status and reconnect if prompted rather than assuming the old setup will continue after that date.
Authorize only the Health categories you want to share
If your chosen app presents an Apple Health authorization prompt, review each category and enable only what you want it to write or read. An app’s own sharing controls may also need to be enabled. Apple notes that third-party app access is permission-based and that some Health data types may not be available to third-party apps.

- Check permissions in Apple Health: Open Health on your iPhone, tap your profile picture, then look under Privacy > Apps for compatible apps. Choose the relevant app and adjust the available categories. Apple’s instructions are in Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
- Check the sync app’s settings: If the app has a separate data-sharing or category-selection screen, confirm the metrics you want it to contribute are enabled there too.
- Verify a metric’s source: In Health, open a category such as Steps, scroll to Data Sources & Access, and review the contributing apps and devices. You can reorder sources or disable a source from this area.
Choose between a supported partner connection and a third-party utility
Use a connection offered by your current Fitbit or Google Health app if it is available and its permissions and coverage meet your needs. If it is not offered, a third-party sync utility may be an alternative, but compatibility and behavior vary. The sources available do not establish enough about individual utilities to recommend one as the best or to promise particular costs, automatic syncing, or historical coverage.
| What to compare | Current partner connection | Third-party sync utility |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Check whether Apple Health appears in the current app’s connection options; a universal Fitbit-specific flow is not established. | Check the utility’s current listing and compatibility details; availability alone does not establish that it supports your Fitbit setup. |
| Metrics | Partner integrations may share only some data, and the exact Fitbit-to-Apple-Health fields are not established. | Confirm which categories it can transfer and which permissions it needs; coverage is app-specific. |
| History and sync behavior | Historical import range and background-sync behavior are not established here; check the app’s import preview or help page. | Check the utility’s stated import range, sync frequency, and whether syncing is automatic; do not assume full-history import. |
| Privacy and access control | Review requested Health categories and the app’s privacy information; Apple lets you change permissions. | Review the developer’s privacy policy and the exact permissions requested, then revoke access in Health if you stop using it. |
Why Fitbit metrics may be missing or look different
A metric has not been shared
Check both the sync app’s sharing settings and its Apple Health permissions for that category. Some data types are not available to third-party apps, and an upstream partner may share only a subset of its tracked metrics.

Steps or another value appears duplicated
In Apple Health, open the affected category and inspect Data Sources & Access. If multiple devices or apps contribute the same type of data, adjust the source order or turn off an unwanted source. Apple says the highest source in the list takes priority when sources overlap. Google also cautions that partners may contribute overlapping data.
Values differ between Fitbit and Apple Health
Different apps can calculate a metric from the data available to them, so matching labels do not guarantee matching values. Google’s integration guidance describes this limitation for partner connections generally; its examples of Apple Watch integration are not a definitive list of Fitbit data fields.

Privacy disclosures are specific to each developer. For example, the App Store listing for Fitbit Sync to Apple Health App says developer MPR MEDIA INC reports practices that may include location, identifiers, and usage data used to track users across apps or websites. Apple labels those disclosures as developer-provided and not verified by Apple; they should not be treated as a description of every sync utility.
