Huawei Watch Fit 4 Review: A Lightweight Fitness Watch With Serious Outdoor Ambitions

The Huawei Watch Fit 4 is a lightweight, long-lasting fitness smartwatch with strong outdoor hardware, but its limited apps, regional payments and workout-focused maps prevent it from being a universal smartwatch.

The Huawei Watch Fit 4 is a strong budget fitness smartwatch for walking, running, cycling and casual hiking. It combines a very light 27g body, a bright 1.82-inch AMOLED display, multi-system L1/L5 GNSS, a barometer, route features and unusually long battery life. Its main weakness is not the hardware but the software: the third-party app ecosystem is limited, payments are region-dependent, and its maps are workout-oriented rather than a replacement for a dedicated navigation watch.

Buy it if you value battery life, outdoor workout data and cross-platform compatibility more than apps and deep phone integration. Choose an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Pixel Watch for a richer smartwatch experience, or a Garmin for serious training and navigation.

Huawei Watch Fit 4: pros and cons

Pros

  • Very light and comfortable at approximately 27g without the strap
  • Bright, high-resolution AMOLED display
  • Long claimed battery life
  • GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS support with listed L1/L5 capability
  • Barometer, altitude and accumulated-ascent data
  • Color route maps during outdoor workouts
  • Works with Android and iPhone
  • Bluetooth calling and useful everyday features

Cons

  • Much smaller app ecosystem than Apple Watch or Wear OS
  • Maps and navigation are tied mainly to outdoor workouts
  • Payment support depends on country, edition and service availability
  • Health features vary by region, phone and app version
  • Huawei’s 10-day battery figure is a laboratory maximum, not a GPS-heavy expectation
  • US availability, warranty and regional support may be difficult

What is the Huawei Watch Fit 4?

The standard Watch Fit 4 sits between a basic fitness tracker and a full smartwatch. It records workouts, monitors everyday health trends and displays notifications, but it does not offer the broad app, payment and phone-integration experience of an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch.

It uses a single rectangular 43mm case made from aluminum alloy. Huawei also sells a Watch Fit 4 Pro with more premium construction and additional health and outdoor features. Do not assume that the standard Fit 4 includes the Pro’s ECG, materials or every advanced navigation function.

Amazfit Active 2 Premium Smart Watch 1.32" Sapphire Glass, GPS, iOS/Android
  • STYLISH DESIGN, BRIGHT DISPLAY: The sleek stainless steel build blends classic style with workout durability, while the bright 1.32" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
  • PRECISE HEART RATE AND SLEEP TRACKING: Amazfit's BioTracker technology tracks your heart rate and sleep data with accuracy that previous sensors just can't match.
  • UP TO 10 DAYS OF BATTERY LIFE: With long battery life that lasts up to 10 days with typical use, nightly recharges are a thing of the past.
  • FREE MAPS WITH TURN DIRECTIONS: Stay on-track with free downloadable maps, and get turn-by-turn guidance on-screen or via your Bluetooth headphones. Enjoy ski maps for global resorts, including guidance for cable cars, slopes, and more.
  • FASTER AND MORE ACCURATE GPS TRACKING: 5 satellite positioning systems ensure fast GPS connection and accurate positioning whenever you're out running, walking, cycling or hiking.

Design, comfort and durability

The Watch Fit 4 measures 43.0 × 38.0 × 9.5mm and weighs approximately 27g without its strap. That makes it notably easier to wear continuously than many larger smartwatches, particularly for sleep tracking, walking and running.

The rectangular design leaves plenty of room for workout metrics, notifications and map information. Some people will prefer a round watch for its traditional appearance, but the wider canvas is practical when several data fields need to be visible at once.

Controls include a rotating crown and a side button. A wireless charging cradle is included. The watch is rated at 5 ATM water resistance, but that does not mean it is suitable for every water activity. Huawei describes shallow-water use such as pool or coastal swimming while excluding diving, platform diving, hot showers, hot springs, saunas and fast-flowing water. Water resistance can also deteriorate with wear. See the official specifications before using it in water.

Display: bright, spacious and well suited to outdoor use

The Watch Fit 4 has a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a 480 × 408 resolution and approximately 347ppi. Huawei rates peak brightness at 2,000 nits; that is a Huawei laboratory-rated figure, not an independent measurement, and actual brightness varies with content and conditions.

In practical terms, the combination should make workout figures and notifications easy to read outdoors. AMOLED provides strong contrast, while the rectangular layout gives maps, pace fields and message previews more horizontal space than a small round display.

The display is one of the Fit 4’s clearest advantages over inexpensive trackers. It looks more like a proper smartwatch screen, while the slim case keeps the watch from feeling bulky.

Outdoor tracking and GPS

Outdoor fitness is the Watch Fit 4’s most convincing reason to exist. Huawei lists GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS, along with L1 and L5 support. Tech Advisor describes this as a move to dual-band GPS, and also notes the addition of a barometer.

That hardware is promising for walking, running, cycling, hiking, trail running, skiing, orienteering and selected water sports. Huawei says the watch can record location, pace, distance, altitude, accumulated ascent, cadence, calories and heart rate.

However, multi-band capability is not proof of perfect accuracy. The real questions are how quickly the watch acquires a position, how consistently it holds a track beneath trees or beside tall buildings, and how stable pace and distance remain on winding routes. The supplied specifications and reviews establish the hardware and feature set, but they do not justify a claim of laboratory-grade GPS accuracy.

Amazfit Bip 6 Smart Watch, 1.97" AMOLED Display, GPS, iOS/Android
  • STYLISH DESIGN, VIBRANT DISPLAY: The lightweight aluminum build blends effortless style with workout durability, while the vivid 1.97" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
  • ALL-IN-ONE ACTIVITY TRACKING: The Amazfit Bip 6 fitness tracker watch offers 140+ workout modes including HYROX Race and Strength Training, plus personalized AI coaching and 50m water resistance.
  • UP TO 14 DAYS BATTERY LIFE: The Amazfit Bip 6 smart watch powers through your training and recovery for up to two weeks at a time - no nightly charging needed.
  • ACCURATE GPS TRACKING & NAVIGATION: Stay on course with free downloadable maps and turn-by-turn directions. Support from 5 satellite systems ensures precise tracking of every move and fast GPS connection.
  • 24/7 HEALTH MONITORING: The Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch provides precise, real-time monitoring of heart rate, sleep, blood-oxygen and stress, empowering you with actionable insights to optimize your health and fitness.

For recreational outdoor users, the combination of GNSS, a bright screen and long battery life is unusually attractive at the lower end of the market. Serious runners and hikers should still compare actual track quality, battery drain during long GPS sessions and data-export options with a Garmin or another dedicated sports watch.

Barometer and elevation data

The standard Fit 4 includes a barometer for air pressure, real-time altitude and accumulated ascent, and Huawei says it can support storm warnings.

A barometric altimeter is useful, but “has an altimeter” does not automatically mean “delivers precise elevation.” It needs calibration and can drift when weather changes alter air pressure. Treat its ascent totals as useful relative data for comparing workouts rather than as a precise mountaineering instrument.

Maps and navigation: useful, but not a standalone hiking navigator

The Watch Fit 4’s map feature needs careful interpretation. Huawei’s workflow is:

  1. Open the Huawei Health app and download the relevant offline map.
  2. Start an outdoor workout from the watch’s Workout app.
  3. Enable GPS and wait for positioning to complete.
  4. Swipe through the workout data cards to view the color map-based route.

Huawei also advertises route downloading or importing for offline use. TechRadar reports that offline maps are tied to an outdoor workout. Where supported, phone-based turn-by-turn navigation can be accessed through Petal Maps.

These are four different capabilities:

  • Route tracking: recording where you have been.
  • Route-back guidance: helping you return along a recorded route.
  • Offline map display: showing map information during an activity.
  • Standalone navigation: entering arbitrary destinations and following them without relying on a phone.

The standard Fit 4 offers the first three in a workout-focused form; it should not be treated as an equivalent to a dedicated Garmin navigation watch. It is a helpful companion for planned recreational routes, not a complete remote-hiking safety device.

Battery life and charging

Huawei’s official figures are:

Usage condition Claimed battery life
Maximum or light use Up to 10 days
Typical use Up to 7 days
Always-on display enabled Up to 4 days
Full charge Approximately 75 minutes

Huawei’s laboratory assumptions include notifications, heart-rate monitoring, Bluetooth calls, music playback and a defined amount of weekly exercise. Its typical-use test includes 180 minutes of weekly exercise and 30 minutes of screen-on time per day. Tech Advisor reports real-world expectations of roughly seven to ten days depending on GPS use, calls, notifications and screen activation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That is excellent endurance compared with most Apple Watch and Wear OS models, but the headline figure should not be applied to GPS-heavy use. Always-on display, frequent calls, continuous sensors, many notifications and long outdoor sessions will reduce runtime. The proprietary charging cradle is convenient when available but is another small accessory to replace if lost.

Health and fitness features

The Fit 4 supports continuous and workout heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, SpO₂-related functions where available, pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis, sleep-breathing awareness, menstrual-cycle tracking, emotional-wellbeing features, running-form analysis, training plans and workout summaries. Huawei advertises more than 100 workout modes.

  • International Model No Warranty in the US. ONLY compatible with Android devices. Samsung Pay - Not Supported. NOT compatible with iPhone or iOS devices.

The useful role of these features is trend tracking: changes in resting heart rate, sleep patterns, training volume or perceived stress may help you understand your routine. They should not be treated as diagnoses or substitutes for clinical equipment.

Huawei states that the watch is not a medical device and that its monitoring data is for reference rather than diagnosis or treatment. Availability varies by country, phone, operating system and Huawei Health version. Check the local product page before buying for a specific health function.

Smart features and software

The Watch Fit 4 can display notifications, handle Bluetooth calls through its microphone and speaker, show weather and alarms, control music, use watch faces, operate as a remote camera shutter and provide quick replies or preset responses where supported. Voice-to-text and voice-notepad functions may also depend on the phone and region.

The limitation is the platform. The watch’s app selection is much smaller than Apple’s or Wear OS’s. TechRadar specifically notes the absence of native support for services including Audible, Spotify, Citymapper, Google Maps, Strava and MyFitnessPal. Workout data can still synchronize to Strava through Huawei Health, while Apple Health support is available; Google Health Connect may require a third-party tool.

This makes the software a reasonable fit for someone who wants notifications, exercise recording, alarms, calls and health trends. It is a poor fit for anyone who expects to install many apps directly on the watch, download Spotify music, use Google Maps from the wrist or access a large messaging ecosystem.

NFC hardware does not guarantee contactless payments. Payment support depends on the country, specific edition, bank and supported service. Confirm it locally rather than assuming that an NFC-equipped model supports Apple Pay, Google Wallet or another payment system.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Android and iPhone compatibility

Huawei lists support for Android 8.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later. The watch requires the Huawei Health app, and some features require a 64-bit Android phone or an iPhone running the latest app version.

Area What to expect
Pairing Supported on Android and iPhone through Huawei Health.
Notifications Available, but behavior depends on phone permissions and operating system.
Replies Supported functions vary by phone and platform; do not expect Apple Watch-level iPhone integration.
Health data Apple Health support is available; Android Health Connect may require a third-party tool.
Maps Workout maps and supported Petal Maps functions depend on region and phone setup.
Android setup Phones without Google Mobile Services may require extra app-installation steps.

“Works with iPhone” means that pairing is supported. It does not mean the Fit 4 becomes an Apple Watch substitute. Likewise, Android compatibility does not provide the Google services or Wear OS app library found on a Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch.

Watch Fit 4 versus Watch Fit 4 Pro

Choose the standard Fit 4 when you want a lighter, less expensive fitness watch with long battery life, a bright screen, outdoor workout tracking and basic smart features.

The Fit 4 Pro is worth considering when you specifically need its more premium construction or additional health and outdoor capabilities. Huawei’s UK comparison information distinguishes the models on features including ECG, route navigation, golf functions, trail running, NFC/payment support and other capabilities depending on market.

Do not pay for the Pro simply because it looks more advanced. If your needs are walking, ordinary running, notifications and sleep tracking, the standard model is likely the better value. If ECG, expanded outdoor functions or premium materials matter, compare the exact regional specifications before deciding.

Who should buy the Huawei Watch Fit 4?

  • Casual outdoor fitness users: You get GPS workout recording, elevation data, a bright screen and long battery life without buying a premium sports watch.
  • Android users who dislike daily charging: The Fit 4 offers more outdoor hardware than many basic trackers while lasting considerably longer than typical full-featured smartwatches.
  • iPhone users who do not need Apple Watch integration: It provides cross-platform basics and better endurance, provided you can accept weaker replies, payments and app support.
  • People who prefer rectangular displays: The shape is practical for metrics, notifications and route screens.
  • Huawei Health users: The experience makes most sense if you are comfortable using Huawei’s app as the central data platform.

Who should avoid it?

  • Buyers who need Apple Pay, Google Wallet or guaranteed contactless payment support
  • Users who want Spotify downloads or a large watch-app library
  • People who rely on Google Maps, Citymapper or rich third-party messaging
  • iPhone owners seeking the closest possible Apple Watch experience
  • Serious hikers who need comprehensive standalone navigation and route tools
  • Users who require ECG or advanced medical-style monitoring
  • People heavily dependent on Google Health Connect who do not want workarounds
  • US buyers who require straightforward official availability and warranty support

Alternatives by priority

Your priority Better direction Why
Long battery life and casual outdoor workouts Huawei Watch Fit 4 Light case, bright display, GNSS, barometer and strong endurance.
More advanced Huawei health and outdoor features Watch Fit 4 Pro More premium construction and additional functions, depending on market.
Serious training and navigation Garmin Venu or Forerunner Generally deeper training analysis, sports features and route tools.
Apps, payments and iPhone integration Apple Watch SE Much stronger integration and app support, but shorter battery life and no Android support.
Android apps and Google services Pixel Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch Better Wear OS access, payments and Android integration.
Budget battery life Amazfit A strong competing category; compare the current Active-series model and local price.
Mainstream wellness services Fitbit Charge or Versa Established Fitbit and Google wellness ecosystem.

Useful official comparison starting points include Garmin’s smartwatch range, Amazfit, Fitbit, Apple Watch SE, Google Pixel Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Buying advice by region

Availability and price are not uniform. Current coverage confirms international sales in markets including Europe, Australia and Canada, while US availability has been uncertain or absent. A US buyer may face import pricing, no official local warranty, regional feature differences, payment incompatibility and account or app-region complications.

Before ordering, check:

  • Whether the model is officially sold in your country
  • Warranty coverage and return arrangements
  • Which payment services work with that exact regional edition
  • Whether your phone meets the Android or iOS requirements
  • Whether Huawei Health is available through the required installation route
  • Whether the included charger and replacement straps are locally available
  • Where your workout and health data must end up, especially if you use Strava, Apple Health or Health Connect

Regional retail pricing and promotions change frequently, so there is no universal current price to quote. Treat unusually cheap imported listings with caution if they do not include local warranty support.

Final verdict

The Huawei Watch Fit 4 is a genuinely capable budget fitness smartwatch, especially for outdoor users who want a light case, a large bright display, multi-system GPS, barometric elevation data and battery life measured in days rather than hours.

It is best described as a fitness-first smartwatch, not a full phone companion. Its route maps can help during outdoor workouts, but they do not turn it into a dedicated hiking-navigation device. Its health features are useful for consumer-level trends, not diagnosis. And its compatibility with Android and iPhone does not erase the limitations of Huawei’s smaller app ecosystem.

Buy the Watch Fit 4 if battery life and recreational outdoor tracking matter more than apps, payments and deep platform integration. Choose Garmin for serious training, Apple Watch for iPhone integration, Pixel or Galaxy Watch for Android services, and Fitbit or Amazfit if their ecosystems or pricing better match your priorities.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
