Hublot’s 2024 Unico story centers on calibre 1280, the second generation of its in-house Unico chronograph, and five Watches and Wonders releases. Hublot’s 9 April announcement attributes its comments on the movement to CEO Ricardo Guadalupe; a separate November announcement identifies Julien Tornare as CEO at Novak Djokovic’s watch reveal. Those are source-specific attributions, not one interchangeable CEO quote.
What is the Hublot Unico movement?
Hublot says it launched the original Unico in 2010 as the first movement designed by its Manufacture. For 2024, the brand presents calibre 1280 as the second generation of Unico. Its listed features are a flyback chronograph, a column wheel visible from the dial side, a silicon escapement, a 72-hour power reserve and five patents. What did Hublot’s CEO say about the 2024 Unico?
In its 9 April 2024 article, Hublot labels Ricardo Guadalupe “HUBLOT CEO” and attributes this statement to him:
“Our aim is to reinvent watchmaking complications. On the Unico, having the chronograph mechanism on the dial side is a specific design feature enabling the column wheel to be visible. The movement – the soul of the watch – is an integral part of the design and the perceived value of high quality. It is unique.”

The comment links the movement’s visible architecture to the watch’s design: the column wheel is not hidden on the back or inside the calibre, but can be seen from the dial side.
Which watches used Unico in 2024?
Hublot’s 9 April announcement names five Watches and Wonders releases. The listed edition limits below apply to the named models, not to every Unico watch.

The five-watch count comprises the two ceramic Big Bangs, the Pink Sapphire Big Bang and the two Square Bang versions. Big Bang Unico Ice Bang
In a separate 9 April article, Hublot introduced the Big Bang Unico Ice Bang as an online exclusive limited to 100 pieces. The listed reference is 441.CK.1140.NR.HEC24. Hublot specifies a 42 mm case, 100 m/10 ATM water resistance and a HUB1280 self-winding flyback chronograph movement with column wheel and approximately 72 hours of power reserve. Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic
Hublot’s 20 November 2024 article describes a Novak Djokovic edition incorporating a composite made from his used HEAD rackets and Lacoste polos. It was limited to 100 pieces and, according to Hublot, available through Hublot.com and Hublot boutiques. The article identifies Julien Tornare as Hublot CEO at the Paris reveal, where he joined Djokovic for a discussion; it does not include a Tornare quotation. Hublot’s Djokovic announcement

The April Unico collection article names Ricardo Guadalupe as CEO and gives the movement quotation above. The November Djokovic article identifies Julien Tornare as CEO at that event but reports no quotation from him. The dated sources support those separate attributions; they do not support assigning Guadalupe’s words to Tornare or treating either article as a universal statement about who led every 2024 announcement.
