How does the HYT fluidic hour display work?
In the reported HYT 501-CM layout, two bellows drive fluid through a borosilicate-glass capillary to indicate the hours. The fluid’s position advances around the curved scale; at the end of the cycle, the hour indication travels back to its starting point, which is why it is called retrograde. This fluidic indication is separate from the central minute hand.
The dial also includes a power-reserve indicator. The movement is hand-wound, runs at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), contains 352 parts, and is reported to provide a 72-hour power reserve.
