Greubel Forsey CEO Michel Nydegger says the watchmaker’s next chapter is about sustaining its work over the long term, not substantially increasing output. In a 2 February 2026 interview with MONOCHROME Watches, he also said Stephen Forsey’s withdrawal from daily operations would not change the company’s strategy, and previewed a fourth Naissance d’une Montre project with the Time Aeon Foundation.
What is Greubel Forsey prioritizing?
Nydegger frames the brand’s direction around longevity and purpose: projects should contribute something meaningful to watchmaking history. He put the test this way: “For every project, the first question we ask ourselves is very simple but very demanding: Why should this timepiece exist?”
That is a statement of intent, rather than a detailed timetable or a list of specific future models. The interview presents the principle as a guide to the brand’s work, not a promise that every project will follow a particular schedule.
Will Greubel Forsey increase production?
Nydegger said, “We are producing about 200 watches per year,” and said the company does not intend to raise production significantly. This is the CEO’s approximate figure in the 2026 interview, not an audited production report.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
He described managing supply reference by reference: production of a model can pause when enough pieces are available, then resume as demand absorbs them. That approach links limited output to the brand’s assessment of availability and demand rather than to a stated fixed annual allocation for each model.
What changes after Stephen Forsey steps back?
Nydegger said Stephen Forsey has left daily operational involvement but remains a shareholder. He said the change would not alter Greubel Forsey’s strategy, roadmap, or operations. The interview therefore describes a change in Forsey’s day-to-day role, not a change in the company’s stated direction.
