Audemars Piguet introduced a 38 mm case size to the Code 11.59 collection on 25 October 2023. The first two watches were automatic Selfwinding models in 18-carat pink gold, with ivory or purple embossed dials. The smaller diameter brought a newly proportioned version of the collection’s distinctive three-part case and double-curved sapphire crystal—not a new movement or a separate collection.
What changed when the Code 11.59 came in 38 mm?
The 38 mm size was a new option within the existing Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet line. For the launch, Audemars Piguet revisited the proportions of both the case and the double-curved sapphire crystal. The brand said the size was designed with smaller or slimmer wrists in mind; that is a design intention, not a guarantee of fit for every wrist. Audemars Piguet’s 25 October 2023 launch announcement describes the new diameter and the initial models.
The case retains the collection’s layered architecture: stylised lugs, an extra-thin bezel, an octagonal case middle and a round caseback. These elements give the watch a more intricate profile than a simple round case, while the reworked crystal proportions adapt that design to the smaller diameter.
Which watches launched in 38 mm?
The original 38 mm pair were pink-gold Selfwinding watches with embossed dials in ivory or purple. Both use the automatic Calibre 5900, which displays hours, minutes, seconds and the date. Audemars Piguet lists a 4 Hz frequency and a 60-hour power reserve for the calibre. The brand’s Code 11.59 design overview describes the launch pair and movement.

The launch colours are not the whole story today. Audemars Piguet later added 38 mm references in contrasting blue shades, including pink-gold Selfwinding reference 77410OR.OO.A342CR.01, which has a “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” dial and matching strap. The later update also describes large-scale square alligator straps and alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces on the pink-gold case. Its product-page details show how to read the stated diameter alongside the rest of the watch’s dimensions and equipment. These specifications belong to this reference; dial, strap and other details can differ across the 38 mm range.

These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not independent test results. The 38 mm figure is the case diameter; it is separate from the 9.6 mm thickness. Audemars Piguet’s product page states a 30 m water-resistance rating, but that figure alone should not be treated as a recommendation for swimming or diving. Audemars Piguet says watches purchased through its authorized network from 1 January 2017 are eligible for a five-year warranty, subject to its International Sales Warranty. The same product page also describes a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects. The applicable coverage depends on the particular watch, purchaser and market, so check the terms for the specific purchase. The brand’s collection update directs customers to AP Houses and boutiques for exploration and watch servicing.
