The campaign is over, but ELKA’s current site still lists both collections and offers X-Series watches; current specifications differ from some figures published at launch.
What ELKA introduced on Kickstarter
In an article dated June 20, 2022, Monochrome Watches described ELKA Watch Co.’s first campaign as “Launching on Kickstarter.” It presented two collections built around the same case and movement, with the dials and hands setting them apart. The distinction is more than a change of color: the designs draw on different kinds of historical instruments and serve different visual priorities.
X-Series: an instrument-inspired dial
The X-Series takes its cues from a flight instrument. Its dial uses a precision seconds track, prominent double-digit numerals at five-minute intervals and luminous hands, giving it a functional, information-forward look. Monochrome reported that its design drew on a flight instrument created by Heuer for the historical Elka Watch; that is the launch article’s account of the inspiration, not an independently verified archival finding.
D-Series: a dress-watch interpretation
The D-Series is the more restrained, mid-century dress-watch design. Baton markers and a sunray-brushed dial replace the X-Series’ more conspicuous instrument-style markings. Monochrome reported that the D-Series dial drew on a design created by Ulysse Nardin for the historical Elka Watch, likewise attributing the heritage connection to the launch coverage.

Neither design is established as the better performer. The choice is between a more instrument-oriented display and a dressier, simpler dial treatment.
What the 2022 campaign specified
Monochrome’s 2022 launch coverage reported a 41 mm stainless-steel case, 11.85 mm height and 46.50 mm lug-to-lug measurement. It listed a domed, double-curved sapphire crystal and 30 m water resistance. The movement was identified as the automatic La Joux-Perret G100, running at 4 Hz with a stated 68-hour power reserve.

Campaign-era strap and bracelet choices included leather, textile NATO or Milanese mesh steel. Monochrome reported a Kickstarter price of CHF 999 and a planned retail price of CHF 1,490, with first deliveries scheduled for December 2022. Those prices and delivery timing describe the historical offer only; they are not a current price or availability promise.
How the current X-Series specifications differ
ELKA’s current official X-Series page lists a 40.8 mm case diameter, 10.80 mm thickness and 46.50 mm lug-to-lug. It specifies a box-style sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, 50 m / 5 bar water resistance, a La Joux-Perret G100 automatic movement and a 68-hour power reserve. The page also lists a two-year warranty. Its publication date is not shown, so these should be treated as the specifications currently published by ELKA, not assigned a launch date.

The figures are version- and source-specific; do not combine them into a single specification set. ELKA’s customer-service page warns that “the water-resistance of a watch is not permanent.” Check the exact reference’s product page and the brand’s care guidance rather than treating a rating as a permanent guarantee.

Monochrome’s 2022 account recounts the historical Elka Watch’s Amsterdam origins and disappearance in the 1970s. It also reports founder Hakim El Kadiri’s statement that the contemporary brand has no connection with the defunct Amsterdam company and that its first models pay tribute to it. These are claims reported in that launch article; the historical relationship has not been independently corroborated here.

ELKA’s official site currently lists both X-Series and D-Series among its collections, and its X-Series page presents individual watches for sale. The brand’s customer-service information identifies its online store, a Neuchâtel boutique and selected international retail partners, including Ace Jewelers in the Netherlands. Inventory, prices and model listings can change, so check the exact reference and seller before relying on availability.
