The Marco Lang Zweigesicht-1 is the Dresden watchmaker’s debut series under his own name: a limited run of 18 watches with a time display on both sides. Its case can be worn with either face outward by reversing the lugs, while the movement-side display reveals the hand-wound caliber and, on some versions, an unusual mechanical shock recorder. Marco Lang’s official history says production continued until 2025; that and a 2023 report that the watch was sold out do not establish whether one is available to buy now.
What is the Marco Lang Zweigesicht-1?
The Zweigesicht-1 was the first series released under Marco Lang’s own name after he established his Dresden atelier. “Zweigesicht” refers to its two faces: a conventional dial on one side and a view of the skeletonized movement with a second time display on the other. The maker’s official history describes a series of 18 watches produced until 2025.
The design is more than a display back. Either side can be worn facing up, so the wearer can choose between the conventional dial and the movement-side time display.
How does the reversible watch work?
The round case does not flip over on a hinge. To change which face is outward, the lugs must be removed and reinstalled on the opposite side. SJX Watches’ 2023 review describes small captive screws and characterizes the operation as delicate, recommending watchmaker assistance rather than treating it as a casual adjustment.

What does the shock recorder do?
On versions equipped with it, the mechanical shock recorder indicates the direction and magnitude of shocks the watch has experienced. It is an unusual display complication, not proof that the watch is indestructible, a diagnostic guarantee, or a substitute for ordinary care. The feature is absent from versions without the shock indicator.

Is the Zweigesicht-1 still available?
Current availability is not established by the available sources. Marco Lang’s history records production through 2025, and SJX reported the model sold out in 2023; neither confirms present direct stock or resale listings. Anyone seeking one should verify availability with the maker or a seller before relying on an old listing.

What makes the Zweigesicht-1 distinctive?
Its defining idea is that the movement side is a usable second face, rather than simply a view of the movement. The wearer can select that display by changing the lug orientation, though doing so involves careful disassembly. The combination of reversible wearing, a second time display, and an optional shock recorder makes the Zweigesicht-1 a notably unconventional debut; the documented production run and historical prices should not be mistaken for evidence of current supply or investment value.
