Its full name is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, reference 26240BC.SS.1320BC.01. The white-gold case and bracelet frame a blue Grande Tapisserie dial with contrasting light-blue counters. On the bezel, 32 baguette-cut blue sapphires total approximately 3.32 carats, according to Audemars Piguet’s official specification.
AP describes the design this way: “A combination of white gold and blue baguette-cut sapphires provide an elegant frame for this chronograph, adorned with a blue “Grande Tapisserie” dial and contrasting light blue counters.”

Calibre 4401 and the flyback chronograph
AP equips the watch with its self-winding Calibre 4401. The movement provides a flyback chronograph, hours, minutes, small seconds and date. A flyback function lets the wearer stop, reset and restart the chronograph in one action, rather than stopping it and performing separate reset and restart actions.

How it fits into the history of gem-set Royal Oaks
Gem-set Royal Oaks predate this chronograph, but the historical examples are distinct models rather than direct substitutes or proven ancestors of reference 26240BC.SS.1320BC.01.
- Royal Oak 25694: AP’s archive dates this model to 1990 and records a bezel with 24 baguette-cut diamonds alternating with 16 sapphires. See the AP Chronicles archive entry.

The earlier watches show that sapphire-set Royal Oaks have historical precedents; their case designs, references and details should not be conflated with this 41 mm self-winding chronograph.
Launch timing, price and availability
Monochrome Watches reported on 2 February 2023 that the watch would first be sold exclusively in Japan from May 2023, followed by worldwide availability from July 2023.
