MAKINA presents the Mephisto III GMT as an evolution of its original Mephisto design, adding GMT functionality. The manufacturer describes MAKINA as Philippine-made and rooted in modern Filipino design and craft; that country-of-origin and design positioning is the brand’s own characterization.

Is it a true GMT watch?

MAKINA specifies an automatic Miyota 9075 beating at 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), with a 42-hour power reserve and hacking seconds. Hacking stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled, which can help set the time precisely. The 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement is useful alongside the 38 mm diameter when judging fit, since it describes the case’s span across the wrist. The stated 100 m water-resistance rating and screw-down crown are part of the official specification; they do not by themselves establish suitability for every water activity, so follow MAKINA’s guidance for use and maintenance.
