Maurice Lacroix introduced the 1975 Collection in 2025, its 50th-anniversary year. The range pairs automatic watches in 36mm and 40mm sizes with a 39mm quartz model, in blue, black, or silver dial configurations. The main choices are movement, case size, date position, and whether you prefer a five-row steel bracelet or leather strap.

What is the Maurice Lacroix 1975 Collection?

The collection is Maurice Lacroix’s retro-modern take on a design lineage it says began with Les Classiques in 1988. In its official launch article, the brand connects the 1975 name to its 50-year anniversary in 2025 and describes the design as a reinterpretation of that earlier collection. Those dates and the design history are the brand’s account.

The watches share a sunbrushed dial, dauphine-style hour and minute hands, and applied trapeze-shaped hour markers. The brand says the hands and markers are faceted and diamond-polished. Case surfaces combine brushed and polished finishes.

Automatic or quartz: what changes?

Feature 1975 Automatic 1975 Quartz
Movement ML 115 automatic, based on Sellita SW200-1, according to Fratello’s March 25, 2025 launch report Quartz; caliber details are not stated in the cited launch sources
Case diameter 36mm or 40mm 39mm
Date position 3 o’clock 6 o’clock
Dial colors Blue, black, or silver Blue, black, or silver
Strap or bracelet Steel bracelet or leather strap Steel bracelet or leather strap

Choose the automatic if you want a mechanical movement and one of the two available case diameters. Fratello reports that the ML 115 has manual winding and hacking, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 26 jewels and Incabloc shock protection, and has a 38-hour power reserve. These are reported specifications, not a measured accuracy or durability claim.

The 39mm quartz model sits between the two automatic diameters, but its date window is at 6 rather than 3 o’clock. The cited official launch article confirms the quartz size and date placement but does not provide movement caliber, battery-life, or accuracy figures.

How to choose a size and dial

36mm automatic

The smaller automatic is the most compact option in the collection. Consider it if you prefer a less expansive case presence or typically wear smaller watches. Case diameter alone does not establish how a watch will fit: wrist shape, lug-to-lug length, and bracelet adjustment also matter, and the cited sources do not state a lug-to-lug measurement.

39mm quartz

The quartz model offers a middle case diameter and a different dial layout, with its date at 6 o’clock. It is a clear choice for someone who wants quartz rather than a mechanical automatic without moving to the 40mm case.

40mm automatic

The largest case is the other mechanical option. Choose it if you prefer a larger diameter; the cited launch specifications do not establish that it has a different movement or power reserve from the 36mm automatic.

All three dial colors—blue, black, and silver—are listed by the brand. The shared sunbrushed finish, faceted hands, and applied markers preserve the same broad design language across the range.

Bracelet or leather strap?

Maurice Lacroix offers a new five-row steel bracelet with folding clasp or a color-coordinated leather strap with pin buckle. The official article says both use the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange system, designed to let the owner change the strap or bracelet with a few clicks. That does not establish compatibility with third-party straps; check fit before buying an alternative.
