Audemars Piguet marked its 150th anniversary with five unique versions of the Code 11.59 Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie. Reported by Monochrome Watches on April 3, 2025, the watches pair automatic chiming with a three-note carillon and AP’s Supersonnerie sound-transmission design, then distinguish themselves through sapphire or natural-opal dials and contrasting case materials. The specifications and availability below are attributed to that report; no official AP technical sheet or current boutique inventory is confirmed here.
What makes the Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie different?
The watch combines two ways of telling time acoustically. Its grande sonnerie is an automatic striking mode: it sounds the hours every hour and the hours plus quarters at each quarter. Petite sonnerie is the hours-only mode, and the report also describes a silent setting. A minute repeater is different: it chimes the time on demand when its pusher is operated.
Three notes for the quarters
Monochrome describes the carillon as using three gongs and hammers tuned to different pitches. That allows quarter-hour strikes to sound three successive notes—high, middle, and low—instead of the two-gong arrangement used for comparison in the report.
Supersonnerie’s soundboard construction
According to Monochrome, AP developed Supersonnerie over eight years with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne. In this construction, the gongs are not attached to the movement’s mainplate; they connect instead to a device that acts as a soundboard, intended to help transmit sound and resonance through the case. The report provides no acoustic measurements, so it does not establish a quantified loudness or advantage over other striking watches.

How the five unique references differ
Monochrome presents the five as unique pieces, not as five versions produced in multiples. Three have sapphire dials with technical, color-coordinated treatments; two use natural opal. Their reported striking functions and movement are shared, with the visible differences concentrated in case materials, dial composition, and strap.

The publication said prices had not been revealed and estimated that they should exceed CHF 700,000; this is its estimate, not an official AP price.

Monochrome’s comparison points to a 2020 enamel-dial release and three unique sapphire-dial versions reported in 2023. The 150th-anniversary group extends that approach to five one-off combinations, including two opal dials, while keeping the focus on the grande sonnerie, three-note carillon, and Supersonnerie construction.
