The Isotope x Oracle Time Mercury Vitreous is a 38 mm hand-wound watch distinguished by layered vitreous enamel dials, offered in two sharply different combinations: spearmint green with bead-blasted steel, or volcanic orange with black DLC-coated steel. The editions share the same reported movement, dimensions and water resistance; the choice is chiefly about dial color, case finish and strap pairing.

What is the Isotope x Oracle Time Mercury Vitreous?

It is a limited collaboration between British watch brand Isotope and watch publication Oracle Time, built around two colorful versions of Isotope’s Mercury. Oracle Time and Time+Tide reported 25 pieces per color at launch in 2025. The defining feature is the vitreous enamel dial, rather than a change in movement or case dimensions between editions.

How do the green and orange editions differ?

Edition Dial Case Strap
Green Faded or spearmint green vitreous enamel Matte, bead-blasted steel Grey FKM rubber
Orange Volcanic orange vitreous enamel Black matte DLC-coated steel Black FKM rubber

Oracle Time’s reviewer observed that the orange dial can look redder in low light and brighter in direct sunlight. That is a reported visual impression, not a measured color specification. The green option makes the steel case and dial the brighter, more tonal pairing; the orange version sets a saturated dial against a dark case and strap.

What makes the vitreous enamel dial distinctive?

Vitreous enamel is glass-like material applied to a metal base and fired at high temperatures. For these watches, coverage describes a textured metallic or silver-leaf base, with semi-transparent enamel layered over it and fired between applications. The repeated process creates depth beneath the glossy surface, but it is technically demanding: Oracle Time notes that firing may reveal small imperfections or cause cracking. The sources do not state the production yield for these editions.

#1 Best Overall
Isobrite ISO1101-PU Squadron Series T100 Tritium Illuminated Automatic Watch
  • Illumination: 16 x Swiss Made T100 tritium markers and a photoluminescent glow-in-the-dark triangle with 2 dots
  • Movement: Japanese NH35 mechanical with 24 jewels, a self-winding bidirectional rotor, and a Diashock shock absorber
  • Movement Features: Date display at 4:30 position, hacking, manual and automatic winding
  • Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire with an anti-reflective coating

Oracle Time editor Sam Kessler described the result as “a level of depth and magnificent colour that simply can’t be achieved with other techniques.” That is his editorial assessment of the dial’s appearance, not a quantified technical comparison.

Specifications reported for both editions

Specification Reported detail
Case diameter and thickness 38 mm diameter; 10 mm thick (Oracle Time, 2025)
Case material 316L steel, with bead-blasted steel on the green version and black DLC coating on the orange version (Oracle Time, 2025)
Water resistance 100 m (10 bar), as reported by Oracle Time in 2025
Movement Manual-winding Isotope I-7, based on ETA/Peseux 7001 (Oracle Time, 2025)
Frequency and power reserve 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz); 42 hours (Oracle Time, 2025)
Functions Hours, minutes and seconds (Oracle Time, 2025)
Crystal and lug width Sapphire crystals front and back; 20 mm lug width (Time+Tide, 2025)
Strap and clasp FKM rubber strap with deployant clasp (Oracle Time, 2025)

These are specifications as published by the cited outlets, not independent measurements. The hand-wound movement means the watch needs winding by its wearer; the reported 42-hour reserve is the stated running time after winding, not a guarantee of real-world timekeeping performance.

Price, edition size and buying status

Oracle Time and Time+Tide reported a launch price of £2,775 including VAT and an edition size of 25 watches per color in 2025. Oracle Time also described an OT Club early-access window ahead of public sale that September. These are historical launch terms, not a current price or sale date.

Who is this Mercury for?

The reported 38 mm diameter and 10 mm thickness give it a relatively compact profile on paper, while the 20 mm lug width provides a useful strap measurement. Fit still depends on wrist shape and personal preference, so those figures cannot substitute for trying it on. Its hand-wound construction suits someone who is comfortable winding a watch, and the enamel dial is the main draw for a buyer seeking vivid color and a crafted surface rather than a conventional printed dial.

Choose between the two versions by the contrast you want to wear: green with light steel and grey, or orange with dark DLC and black. Both use the same reported movement and core specifications.
