The IWC Portugieser Automatic IW500715 is the white-dial, blue-subdial stainless-steel version of the Portugieser Automatic, originally supplied on a blue alligator-leather strap. Its IWC-manufactured calibre 52010 has a stated seven-day power reserve, while the 42.3 mm case and 3-bar water-resistance rating are important practical considerations. IWC now places this reference in its past-collections catalogue, so buyers are generally evaluating pre-owned examples rather than treating it as a current-collection model.
What is the IWC Portugieser Automatic IW500715?
IW500715 is the reference number for IWC’s stainless-steel Portugieser Automatic with a white dial, contrasting blue subdials and a blue alligator-leather strap. Keep the reference in view when shopping: it distinguishes this white-and-blue version from the blue-dial IW500710 and from newer Portugieser Automatic 42 variants. IWC lists IW500715 in its past-collections catalogue.

IWC’s launch description calls out blued feuille hands and says the contrasting colours create a distinctive appearance. That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not a published independent legibility assessment. The dial layout puts small seconds at 9 o’clock and the power-reserve indicator at 3 o’clock; a date display is also included.

What the seven-day reserve means
Calibre 52010 is automatic and uses IWC’s Pellaton winding system. IWC says the system in this movement is reinforced with components made of virtually wear-free ceramic; that is the manufacturer’s description of its construction. The stated reserve of 168 hours means the watch is specified to run for seven days when fully wound. It does not mean that every example will deliver precisely that running time in every condition.
The power-reserve display at 3 o’clock gives the wearer a visual indication of remaining reserve, while small seconds sit opposite it at 9 o’clock. That arrangement, together with the date and the large dial, is part of the reference’s distinctive layout.
Is IW500715 discontinued, and what does it cost?
IWC lists IW500715 among past collections, and WatchCharts labels reference 500715 discontinued. WatchCharts reported an estimated market price of $7,672 as of September 30, 2026. It also lists a retail price of $13,100 as of March 2024. The market figure is a third-party estimate, not a live asking price, a guaranteed transaction value or a quote from IWC.
Actual pre-owned prices can vary with condition, location, box and papers, service history, seller and changes in the market. Use the dated estimate as context when assessing a specific listing, not as a substitute for comparing the complete watch and the seller’s terms.
How to compare it with a newer Portugieser Automatic
IWC’s 2024 announcement for updated Portugieser Automatic 42 and 40 models describes a slimmer case, double box-glass and new colour codes. It provides useful family context, but it is not a full side-by-side specification comparison with IW500715. Do not assume that a newer model is a direct match simply because its name includes “Portugieser Automatic 42.”
For an “old versus new Portugieser Automatic 42 7 days” comparison, check the exact reference numbers and compare the points that affect fit, appearance, use and value:
- Case: Compare diameter and height, including how the case profile sits on your wrist.
- Dial and crystal: Look at the subdial arrangement, colour, hand style and crystal shape in the actual reference.
- Movement: Confirm the calibre and stated reserve for each watch rather than assuming the same movement.
- Everyday use: Compare water-resistance ratings, strap and buckle dimensions, and any functions you rely on.
- Pre-owned condition and value: Inspect condition, service records, accessories, seller standing and asking price against a dated market reference.
IWC’s 2024 family announcement is available here. The official IW500715 specification page establishes this reference’s details, but not every competing model’s full specifications; verify those from the manufacturer’s page for the exact reference you are considering.
Strap fit and warranty checks
The supplied strap is blue alligator leather. Its listed width is 22 mm, with an 18 mm buckle width. If looking for an alternate or replacement, those dimensions are a starting point—not proof that any nominally 22 mm strap will fit correctly. Check the lug-end shape, taper and buckle attachment against your specific watch and the strap listing.

IWC’s launch release said the two models covered in that announcement could be registered under My IWC care for a six-year extension to the standard two-year International Limited Warranty. That announcement does not establish coverage for every pre-owned IW500715 or subsequent owner. Confirm applicability with IWC for the particular watch, including geography, original purchase and registration status. The launch details are in IWC’s announcement.
