The Jacob & Co. Epic SF24 turns the split-flap boards once used to show cities and times in railway stations and airports into a mechanical wristwatch display. Its central hands show local time; a separate pusher advances the city and time on the split-flap second-time-zone display. The name covers several distinct watches, however: the base model, a flying-tourbillon version and a diamond-set Tourbillon Baguette.
How the Epic SF24 tells two times
The SF24 separates its time displays. The central hour and minute hands indicate local time, while the case extension houses a mechanical split-flap display showing a reference city and its time. Jacob & Co. says adjusting local time with the crown at four o’clock also changes the second-time-zone indication in sync.
A dedicated pusher on the side of the tubular case extension operates the flaps. Each press advances both flaps through the city/time indications. Jacob & Co. Japan describes the pusher’s position and function on its official base-model page. The launch-era GPHG entry describes the board as a miniature split-flap display and says the wearer can scroll through 24 destinations; that is historical description, not a guarantee about every later reference’s city set.
The result is more than a conventional second-time-zone hand: the city is shown along with the time, using a display mechanism that makes the indication the watch’s visual focus. The sources establish the mechanism and layout, but do not provide independent measurements of legibility or user experience.

Base Epic SF24: the reference and specifications
A current example of the base watch is Jacob & Co. Japan’s reference ES101.40.AE.AA.A, in 18K rose gold with a blue dial. The figures below apply to that specific reference and its Japanese official listing, not every Epic SF24.

Epic SF24 versions are not interchangeable
The Tourbillon and Tourbillon Baguette keep the split-flap concept but add different complications or decoration. Their specifications, edition sizes and listed prices belong to their own references.
Epic SF24 Tourbillon
Jacob & Co. Japan lists reference ES102.40.NS.AB.A with the JCAA03 automatic calibre, 528 components, a one-minute off-center flying tourbillon and the split-flap second-time-zone display. The cited rose-gold, blue city-dial version is 45 mm, water resistant to 30 m, and listed with an approximately 42-hour reserve. Its Japanese page states a 101-piece limited edition and a tax-inclusive suggested retail price of JPY 49,280,000, subject to change. These details apply to the cited reference and market listing.

Epic SF24 Tourbillon Baguette
The official Japanese listing for reference ES802.40.BD.AD.A describes a JCAA03 movement with 528 components and an approximately 48-hour reserve. The cited version is set with 104 baguette-cut white diamonds totaling approximately 8.9 carats. Jacob & Co. Japan lists it as a nine-piece edition at JPY 84,480,000 including tax, with the price subject to change. This is a separate, highly gem-set variant—not the price or edition size of the base watch.
Other documented configurations
- Titanium Red: Wempe’s listing documents a 45 mm titanium configuration with JCAA02, a second time zone, small seconds and 3-bar water resistance. The listing does not establish current stock.
- Only Watch unique piece: Phillips catalogued reference 500.101.20.NS.LG.UPA in Grade 5 titanium with JCAA02, 473 parts and a 48-hour reserve. Phillips reported a CHF 50,000 sale result for this one-off auction piece; it is not a representative market price. Phillips also describes 163 miniaturized components in its flap mechanism description, a catalogue figure rather than a current manufacturer specification.
Why the edition and price figures differ
There is no single edition count or price that applies to every watch called Epic SF24. The figures below refer to specific references, sources and dates or markets.

The GPHG entry’s launch-era reference is also described as a 45 × 52 mm pink-gold case, 16.4 mm thick, with a 46-hour reserve. Those historical specifications belong to that 2013 catalogue entry, not automatically to the later Japanese base reference. Differences between these records should not be silently collapsed into one “standard” Epic SF24 specification.
The official Japanese prices are published list figures for that market, not confirmed transaction quotes or proof of current inventory. The Phillips number is an auction result for a unique piece, not a retail comparison or market-wide valuation.
