Jacob & Co. says the melody’s activation also sets the movement rotating, alongside a triple-axis flying tourbillon.
What makes the 50th Anniversary edition distinctive?
Jacob & Co. presented the watch in 2022 to mark the film’s 50th anniversary. The company describes the edition as limited to 50 pieces. Its design brings together three kinds of reference to the movie: engraved scenes, familiar dialogue, and the film’s main theme.
The 49 mm case is made of white gold. Around its caseband, 13 scenes appear in the film’s narrative order, according to Jacob & Co. Don Vito Corleone is depicted between the lugs at 6 o’clock. The company says a combination of nanolaser and femtolaser techniques produces the caseband engraving, with 30 hours under the laser for each caseband and 256 shading tones.
The two music barrels are rose gold and engraved with 13 film quotations. Their covers add more visual cues: one is shaped like a piano, while another carries the motif of the puppeteer’s strings. The idea is to make the outside of the watch function as a condensed visual retelling, not simply a surface for a logo or portrait.

How does the watch play The Godfather theme?
A twin music-box mechanism plays the film’s main theme, composed by Nino Rota. Jacob & Co. says the mechanism uses 120 pins and 30 blades. Activating the melody also sets the movement rotating, linking the musical display to the watch’s moving architecture.
The musical function is central to the concept: it turns the watch from a static film tribute into an object that performs part of the film’s identity. The company’s launch story describes the mechanism and its effect, but does not provide an independent assessment of sound quality or a detailed operating guide.

What is inside the case?
The anniversary launch story identifies the movement as caliber JCMF04 and gives a count of 634 components. It combines the music box with a triple-axis flying tourbillon. In a triple-axis tourbillon, the regulating assembly rotates on three axes; here, that architecture sits alongside the music-making mechanism and the movement rotation associated with activating the melody.
Keep the caliber details specific to this edition. Jacob & Co.’s separate Opera Godfather Baguette product page describes a different model and lists caliber JCFM04 with 658 components. Those figures belong to the Baguette model, not the 50th Anniversary watch. Its other specifications should not be assumed to apply to the anniversary edition.

How many were made, and what is known about price?
Jacob & Co. stated that the 50th Anniversary edition was limited to 50 pieces in its October 27, 2022 launch story. That is the announced edition size, not confirmation of how many have been sold or remain available today.
A separate Jacob & Co. company article dated January 30, 2023 reported a US$350,000 base price for the Opera Godfather collection and 110 collection sales as of Q4 2022. Those are historical, company-reported collection-level figures; they do not establish the 50th Anniversary edition’s price, current availability, or sales total.
