What is the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985?
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 1 September 2025 announcement presents the watches as the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985. The brand says the calibre was developed in 2013 and contains 431 parts. Its functions include a perpetual calendar, moon phase, Night & Day indication and a cylindrical flying tourbillon. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s announcement is the reference for the 2025 configurations and specifications.

The name can be confusing across generations and markets. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s US product page uses the name “Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique à Quantième Perpétuel Jubilee 5046520” for a platinum watch and identifies Calibre 985. That page’s naming and reference differ from the 2025 press-release references, so identify a particular watch by its reference and verify the caseback rather than assuming all Jubilee or similarly named models have the same configuration. What distinguishes the cylindrical flying tourbillon?
The tourbillon is crafted in titanium and, according to the manufacturer, consists of 83 components and weighs 0.386 grams. Jaeger-LeCoultre explains that the cylindrical hairspring was chosen for enhanced isochronism: its helical shape is intended to oscillate concentrically in every position. This is the brand’s explanation of the design, not an independent performance test of the watch.

The dial makes the mechanism part of the time display. Seconds are shown along a 20-second arc below the tourbillon aperture. Three blue hands on the tourbillon cage mark successive 20-second intervals during its 60-second rotation.
Calendar, moon phase and movement specifications
The perpetual calendar is paired with a moon-phase display and a Night & Day indication. Jaeger-LeCoultre says the moon-phase display needs no adjustment for 122 years; that interval is a manufacturer claim.

The 2025 press release’s extracted power-reserve figure is malformed, so a precise reserve should not be inferred from it. The listed 5-bar water resistance does not by itself establish a recommended use for swimming or diving.

The case comprises more than 80 components, with polished, brushed and micro-blasted surfaces. Those finishing details and the contrasting dial and metal choices give the variants distinct appearances without changing the core complication set.
Price and availability
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s US page lists the platinum Calibre 985 at “Price available upon request”; it does not provide a numerical current price there. The page is for Jubilee reference 5046520, so it should not be treated as a confirmed price for the three 2025 press-release references.
A historical French listing for related yellow-gold reference 500142A reported a suggested public price of €129,000 including 20% French VAT on 25 January 2019. That is a dated price for a different reference and tax context, not a current price or valuation for Q5246580, Q5246508 or Q5242461. No current transaction price or secondary-market price sample is established here.
For a purchase, ask Jaeger-LeCoultre or an authorized retailer to confirm the exact reference, configuration, current availability and applicable local price. For a pre-owned watch, match the reference to the caseback and documentation and assess the seller and authenticity safeguards independently.
