What the June 2025 update adds
Favorites for an individual watch surface
The update lets you configure home-control Favorites for a particular watch surface instead of treating the favorites setup as universal. Google’s announcement does not detail the setup steps or enumerate compatible controls, so the exact options may depend on the controls available to you.
Tap supported transit cards without opening Wallet
On watches running Wear OS 5 or Wear OS 5.1, supported municipal transit cards can be tapped with Google Wallet closed. The watch must be unlocked. Google initially named transit systems in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Toronto; an updated watch alone does not make every transit card or system compatible.
Transit cards and bank cards have different rules. Municipal transit-card support is automatically enabled, while using a credit or debit card for this closed-app behavior requires opting in through Wallet on Wear settings. Google’s June 2025 Pixel Watch announcement describes the feature and its initial availability.

Security fixes, not a public inventory of bug fixes
Google says the update includes applicable security fixes and directs users to the Pixel Watch Security Bulletin for security details. The announcement does not identify a long list of fixes for particular watch problems. Claims that this release resolves issues such as battery drain, sleep tracking, exercise tracking, display behavior, or app crashes are not established by the published release notes.
Eligible watches, build, and rollout timing
The global release is listed for the original Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3, under build BW1A.250605.004. Google started the rollout on June 10, 2025, distributing it in phases over the following weeks; availability could vary by carrier and device.

Cellular Pixel Watch models in Japan and Singapore were excluded from the initial global rollout. They later received a July 2025 update, BW1A.250605.004.J2, which included the June features and an emergency-calling fix for certain cellular conditions. Details are in Google’s Japan and Singapore update notice.
How to check for and install the update
- On the watch, open Settings.
- Select System, then System updates.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen prompts to install it.
- After installation, return to the update screen or check the watch’s software information to confirm the installed build.
Keep the watch charged and connected to Wi-Fi during the check and installation. Google’s rollout is staged, so a watch may report that it is up to date while another model or region already has the release.

If the update is not showing
A missing update is not by itself evidence of a fault. Distribution may not have reached your carrier or device variant yet, and the cellular models in Japan and Singapore followed a separate schedule.
- Charge the watch and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- Keep it near the paired phone, then restart the watch and check Settings > System > System updates again.
- If the update still is not offered, wait for the staged rollout rather than factory-resetting the watch solely to make the update appear.
Some users in a Google Pixel Watch Community discussion reported rebooting, disabling Bluetooth, enabling Wi-Fi, and checking again as a workaround. This is a community-reported step, not a guaranteed or official Google procedure.

Why “numerous bug fixes” needs context
The phrase “numerous bug fixes” is broader than the detail in Google’s watch announcement: that notice names two features and refers readers to the security bulletin for applicable security fixes, but does not enumerate numerous consumer-facing fixes. User reports about problems before or after installation are anecdotes, not confirmation that Google included or resolved a particular issue. A community discussion after the rollout illustrates user experiences, but it is not a definitive changelog.
Do not confuse this watch release with Google’s separate June 2025 Pixel phone, tablet, and foldable update. The phone release listed fixes involving areas such as biometrics, Bluetooth, camera, notifications, and At a Glance; those are not evidence of equivalent fixes on Pixel Watch. Should you install it?
Install the update when it is offered if you want the transit-payment behavior or prefer to receive applicable security fixes. Treat it as a maintenance update with two named feature additions, not as a major Wear OS redesign or a guaranteed fix for any specific watch complaint. The value of the transit feature depends on an eligible software version, an unlocked watch, and a supported transit system or correctly configured bank card.
