The manufacturer’s current product pages list both at CHF 2,222 excluding tax; the 2022 launch materials gave a recommended retail price of CHF 1,950. The larger model’s listed movement calibre also differs between current and launch materials, so that detail remains unresolved.
What makes the Terracotta distinctive?
Louis Erard introduced the Excellence Petite Seconde Terracotta on 26 January 2022 as a natural-color variation of its Excellence Petite Seconde line. The launch description connects the palette to the Jura and Franches-Montagnes region and characterizes the result as contemporary vintage. The dial is matte, with a circular satin-finished zone and a snailed small-seconds counter at 6 o’clock. Both current size listings retain this terracotta treatment.
The case is stainless steel, with a transparent caseback and a domed sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The listed water resistance is 5 bar (50 m/165 ft). Each version is specified with a dark-brown calf-leather strap; the 42 mm listing calls it Baranil calf leather.
39 mm or 42 mm: what changes?
The documented distinction is case diameter and reference. Louis Erard presents the dial and core specifications as similar across the two sizes. The available information does not establish a measurable difference in comfort or wrist presence, so size choice is best made by comparing the dimensions with your wrist and preferred proportions.

The 42 mm listing specifies a 22 mm lug width and quick-change spring bars. Confirm compatibility with the watch and strap seller before buying a replacement strap.
What movement is in the 42 mm model?
Louis Erard’s current 42 mm product page identifies an automatic Sellita SW261-1, with HMS functions and around 38 hours of power reserve. The brand’s 26 January 2022 press release instead names Sellita SW266-1 for that reference and lists 31 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and an approximate 38-hour reserve. Those official statements conflict; the exact calibre is not established by the available material.

The current 39 mm page also lists an automatic movement and around 38 hours of power reserve. Because the sources do not establish the same calibre discrepancy for that size, do not assume the 42 mm conflict applies to it.
How limited is production?
Louis Erard described production as “approximately 100 pieces per year by reference” in its launch article. This is a manufacturer-stated annual production estimate for each reference, not an independently verified count or a fixed lifetime edition limit.

Launch price versus current listing
The 2022 launch article and press release gave CHF 1,950 as the recommended retail price. As of 8 October 2026, Louis Erard’s product pages displayed CHF 2,222 excluding tax for both sizes. These are dated price statements in different contexts; the current listing does not establish final local taxes, stock in every market, or authorized-retailer availability.
