Mathey-Tissot and Massena LAB made two distinct Type XX chronographs: a 99-piece manual-wind Tribute with a tropical-brown dial, and a 25-piece automatic Flyback with a black dial. Massena LAB currently marks both sold out. Its pages list prices of $1,995 and $2,995 respectively; those are the maker’s displayed prices, not current resale values.
Two editions, two different chronographs
The collaboration comprises the Type XX Tribute Chronograph (reference MTML-T-XX) and the Type XX Flyback Chronograph (reference MTML-XX). They share a case and several design details, but differ in movement, complication, dial, edition size and listed price.

What the Type XX design is meant to evoke
Massena LAB describes the collaboration as a tribute to a mid-century aviation tool watch. Its product copy says French Ministry of Defense contracts in the 1950s and 1960s called for a flyback function, luminous Arabic numerals, registers at 3 and 9 o’clock, a bidirectional 12-hour bezel and at least 35 hours of power reserve. That is Massena LAB’s account of the historical inspiration; the available product information does not independently establish those procurement details.
Shared case, bezel and included straps
Both editions use a 38.5 mm 316L stainless-steel case, measure 14.6 mm thick and have a 45.5 mm lug-to-lug length. The bezel is bidirectional with Arabic numerals, and the crystal is box mineral glass with a sapphire coating. Massena LAB lists two brown sueded calfskin straps with each watch: a Bund-style strap and a conventional two-piece strap. The stated warranty is two years.

The 38.5 mm diameter and 45.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement are useful starting points for judging fit, but they do not determine how a watch will wear on every wrist. The product details cited here do not state lug width.

Mathey-Tissot also lists other watches in its Type XX Homage collection, including mechanical and quartz chronographs. For example, the brand’s TYPEXXIISE listing specifies a Sellita SW510 mechanical chronograph movement and a 38.5 mm stainless-steel case. These are related Type XX watches, not proof of an equivalent replacement: the listings do not establish that they share the collaboration editions’ exact design, specifications, limited-edition status or availability. Verify the precise model and live stock before buying.
