Michael Kors Access is a real family of Fossil-built Wear OS watches, but it is not an actively developed smartwatch platform. Fossil Group said in 2024 that it had exited the smartwatch category; in 2026, Access watches are chiefly old stock or used devices. They can still make sense for Michael Kors styling at a low price, but treat battery health, phone compatibility and uncertain ongoing support as major buying risks.
What is Michael Kors Access?
Michael Kors Access was the brand’s connected-watch line, developed through Fossil Group’s licensed smartwatch business. It was not a separate operating system: the touchscreen watches used Google’s Android Wear, later renamed Wear OS, on Fossil hardware, with Michael Kors styling and custom watch faces. Early designs included Bradshaw and Dylan; the family later expanded to styles such as Sofie, Lexington and MKGO. The original launch emphasized fashion-led designs alongside customizable faces and Google Fit activity tracking (Michael Kors Access launch announcement).
Which Michael Kors Access models are there?
Colorways and regional names vary, so identify a watch by its model or style number rather than relying on a listing title. The names below describe broad generations, not a promise that every feature or software version is identical.
| Family | Examples | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Early Access | Bradshaw, Dylan, Sofie and related variants | Android Wear-era touchscreen watches. Their age makes obsolete software, worn batteries and pairing difficulty especially important risks. |
| Gen 4 and Gen 5 era | Lexington 2, Bradshaw 2, Sofie 2, MKGO, Gen 5 Lexington and Bradshaw, Gen 5E MKGO | Features vary by model. The Gen 5 Lexington product page lists a 44 mm case, AMOLED display, heart-rate tracking, GPS, NFC payment capability, notifications, Google Assistant, interchangeable straps and water resistance up to 30 meters (Gen 5 Lexington specifications). |
| Gen 6 | Michael Kors Gen 6 watches | Announced in 2021 alongside Fossil Gen 6. Fossil described its Gen 6 platform as using Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+; that does not make a Gen 6 Access watch equivalent to a current Wear OS model (Fossil Gen 6 announcement). |
The Gen 5E MKGO was described with an aluminum design, heart-rate tracking, payment features and a built-in speaker for Bluetooth calling; exact features can depend on region and software (Gen 5E MKGO product page).

Are Michael Kors Access watches still being made?
Fossil Group said in its second-quarter 2024 prepared remarks that it had exited the smartwatch category and had almost no inventory remaining (Fossil Group Q2 2024 prepared remarks). Michael Kors and Fossil announced in February 2025 that their licensed partnership for watches and jewelry would continue through 2027, but that announcement does not confirm a new smartwatch program (partnership announcement). The evidence therefore supports treating Access as a legacy smartwatch line, not assuming that new models are forthcoming.
What features do they offer?
Capabilities depend on the exact model, Wear OS version, phone and region. Typical functions include timekeeping, alarms, calendar alerts, notifications, custom faces and basic activity tracking. Some models include heart-rate sensors, GPS, NFC, speakers for Bluetooth calls, and water-resistance ratings. For example, Michael Kors lists GPS, heart-rate tracking, NFC payments, notifications, Google Assistant and swimproof construction for the Gen 5 Lexington (product details).
A specification is not a guarantee that a service still works today. Payments depend on NFC hardware, software, country and participating banks; assistant, app, notification and syncing behavior can change independently of the watch. Water resistance is also not permanent: age, impact, opened cases and repairs can compromise seals, so do not treat an older used watch as reliably swim-safe just because its original listing gave a rating.

Watch faces
The MK Access Watch Faces app listing says its faces are for Michael Kors Wear OS Gen 6 watches only; it notes that on non-Michael-Kors watches the app displays only a Michael Kors Access logo. Face availability is not proof of broad or ongoing device support (Google Play listing).

Will one work with your phone?
Compatibility depends on the specific model, Wear OS generation, phone software and country. Newer Access watches were designed for Android and some generations also supported iPhone, but functionality is not necessarily equal across platforms. Android generally offers broader Wear OS functionality; do not assume that calls, notifications, payments, health syncing, assistant features or app installation will work identically on an iPhone.
Google’s Wear OS device-help page lists Fossil, including Michael Kors, among manufacturers and points users to manufacturer support. It distinguishes companion-app arrangements for different Wear OS generations, so confirm the required app for the exact watch instead of assuming that a current Wear OS app will pair with every Access model (Google Wear OS device help). Android devices without Google Play Services, Android Go devices, heavily modified regional software and outdated phones may introduce further pairing problems. Cellular functions, where a particular watch has them, may also depend on carrier and phone restrictions.

What to expect from battery life and health tracking
There is no useful universal battery-life figure for the Access family. Runtime varies with model, screen brightness and always-on display, GPS, calling, Wi-Fi or cellular use, health tracking, watch faces and battery age. Fossil’s Gen 5 LTE materials described battery modes intended to extend use over multiple days, but that was a product-era claim for a different Fossil model, not a promise for an aged Michael Kors watch (Fossil Gen 5 LTE product page). A used device’s actual battery behavior matters more than its original marketing.
For exercise, these watches are best understood as basic lifestyle trackers. Depending on model, they can record heart rate, steps, activity and GPS-based distance, but readings vary with fit, movement and skin contact. Do not assume modern ECG, blood-oxygen, temperature, fall-detection or advanced recovery features, and do not use a smartwatch as a medical device. Battery wear can also make overnight tracking impractical.

Software updates, apps and support
These are older Wear OS products, and Fossil’s 2024 exit from smartwatches is a strong reason not to buy one expecting a long update runway. Current Michael Kors product pages describe the original hardware but do not establish an individual model’s future update schedule. No specific end-of-support date is established here; ask the seller or manufacturer about the exact watch’s current software status before buying.

For help identifying a support route, Google directs Michael Kors Wear OS users to Fossil/Michael Kors resources (Wear OS device help). Fossil’s services site says smartwatch owners should contact smartwatch experts before sending a device for service; non-warranty repair charges may be determined after inspection (Fossil services). Ask for a repair quote first: a battery or screen repair may cost more than an old used watch is worth, depending on parts, region and condition.
Can you still buy one?
Possible sources include remaining regional stock, department-store clearance, refurbished sellers and private marketplaces. A live product page does not mean a watch is available: when reviewed, the U.S. Gen 5 Lexington page was marked Sold Out (U.S. product page). A sold-out regional listing establishes only that it was unavailable there at that time; Fossil’s category-exit statement is the broader evidence about the business direction.
- New old stock: Unused, but potentially several years old; battery condition can still be a concern.
- Refurbished: Ask what was repaired or replaced and whether the battery was tested.
- Used: Check charger, reset status, battery behavior, screen and charging contacts, and insist on a return window.
Used-buying checklist
- Confirm the exact model. Request the model/style number, such as an MKT-series identifier, and clear photos rather than accepting “Michael Kors smartwatch” as a description.
- Check the software version. If possible, see Settings on the watch and verify its Wear OS generation before paying.
- Ask about real battery use. Ask how long it lasts from a full charge with ordinary use, not just what the original listing claimed.
- Verify the charger. Confirm that the correct charging puck is included and works; replacement chargers can be inconvenient to source.
- Have the seller reset it. The watch should be removed from the seller’s phone and factory-reset so you can set it up yourself.
- Inspect the display and controls. Look for burn-in, dead pixels, ghost touches, loose crowns and unresponsive buttons.
- Inspect charging contacts. Look for corrosion, misalignment or intermittent charging.
- Check account status and key functions. Confirm setup is not blocked by an account issue; test NFC and GPS if they matter to you rather than relying on the listing.
- Be cautious around water. Do not infer that an old or repaired device remains swim-safe from its original rating.
- Confirm phone compatibility and returns. Check the exact phone and watch combination and prefer a seller with a meaningful return policy.
Setup and common problems
Pairing a watch
- Charge the watch, turn it on, then select language and region.
- Install the companion app specified for that model and Wear OS generation; enable Bluetooth on the phone.
- Keep the devices close, choose the matching watch in the app, and confirm the pairing code on both screens.
- Sign in to a Google account if prompted, then grant the permissions required for notifications, location, health or background operation.
- Install available watch and app updates, then test notifications, calls, GPS, payments and watch faces separately.
If pairing fails
- Charge the watch and restart both devices.
- Remove the watch from the phone’s Bluetooth settings, then pair through the correct companion app rather than system Bluetooth alone.
- Factory-reset the watch and reinstall or update its companion app.
- Check phone OS compatibility and disable battery optimization for the companion app if it is being stopped in the background.
- If possible, try another Android phone to help distinguish a phone issue from a watch issue; contact Fossil/Michael Kors smartwatch support before paying for a repair.
If it will not charge or drains quickly
For charging, check the correct charger and orientation, clean contacts, firm contact with the puck, and a different wall adapter. Look for corrosion or overheating and see whether a charging icon appears after several minutes. Fossil documentation advises using the included charger and avoiding USB hubs, splitters, battery packs and similar peripherals (product warnings).
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Severe drain may reflect a degraded battery, high brightness, always-on display, GPS, Wi-Fi, LTE or Bluetooth calls, a misbehaving app or face, or repeated update and pairing loops. A reset can sometimes resolve software problems; it cannot restore capacity to an aged battery.
Is a Michael Kors Access watch worth buying?
It is most defensible as a fashion-first purchase: you specifically want the Michael Kors look, accept basic smartwatch functions, use a compatible phone and find a low-priced unit with a return option. It is a poor fit if you need dependable health or fitness tracking, long battery life, cellular independence, safety-critical features, several years of updates or strong iPhone integration. Calculate the total cost—including charger, strap, possible repair and shipping—against the device’s likely remaining useful life.
Current alternatives
| Option | Best suited to | Trade-off versus Access |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Watch | iPhone owners seeking Apple integration and current health features | Stronger fit for iPhone and current support, but not an Android alternative and more technology-led in appearance. |
| Google Pixel Watch | Android users who want Google software and Fitbit-linked health features | More current platform outlook, generally less jewelry-like branding. |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch | Android users, particularly Samsung-phone owners, seeking current Wear OS and health functions | More contemporary technology, usually sportier styling. |
