Minase’s first North American pop-ups took place at four New York venues in June 2026, introducing the Japanese watchmaker to local collectors outside a conventional boutique launch. The company says Miami is next, but it has not published figures for attendance, sales or awareness gains, so the tour’s significance is best understood as a test of community-led brand discovery—not proof of commercial success.
What is Minase watches?
Minase is a Japanese watch brand whose roots are in precision cutting tools and watch-case manufacturing. According to the company’s official history, its predecessor began as a cutting-tool company in 1963, started making watch cases in 1973, and established the subsidiary that became its Minase factory in 1988. The company began developing its own watch brand in 2001 and released its first MINASE-branded watch, GREADY (M1), in 2005.
Minase presents case-making and polishing as central to its identity. The company says some individual components take a skilled artisan 90 minutes to polish; that figure is a brand statement, not an independently timed measurement. The New York event account highlighted the DIVIDO’s case form, which Minase connects to an origami crane, and the FIVE WINDOWS Yusai dial, featuring work by contemporary artist Towa Takaya. The account does not establish that every model was shown at every venue.

What happened on Minase’s American tour?
Minase’s September 21, 2026 event report describes the June gatherings as the brand’s first North American pop-up events. They took place across four New York venues: Tokyo Record Bar, The Yacht Club, The Jeffrey and LORE. At the fourth gathering, Gotham Watch Club members met MINASE President Tsuyoshi Suzuki over watches and sake from Akita.
The company says it chose several different settings to meet watch communities directly rather than start with a select shop or conventional watch boutique. The route therefore made the New York introduction feel like a series of local encounters, not a single retail opening. Minase reports engaged discussion about watch construction and design, but that account reflects the company’s description of the reception.
Suzuki’s interpretation, as quoted in Minase’s event report, was: “The watch enthusiasts in New York really respected the fact that MINASE pays attention to every detail of its watchmaking.”

A preceding Minase feature says the idea followed an approach from a North American contact identified only as Jack. The account describes online conversations and a later in-person meeting with Suzuki in Japan before the New York events were agreed. It does not give Jack’s full name or establish an independently verified commercial agreement.

What does Minase’s New York pop-up mean for the brand?
The format suggests Minase is using collector networks and varied local experiences to introduce its watches in North America. That is a different first step from opening with a permanent boutique: community events can put a brand’s design and manufacturing story in front of enthusiasts in a social setting, while a retailer is better suited to individual product consultation and checking what is available to buy.
Minase’s report offers evidence of the strategy and of the company’s account of the conversations; it does not quantify broader awareness, demand or commercial results. Four venues are a measure of where events took place, not how many people attended or whether the tour converted interest into sales. The distinction matters when judging what the tour achieved.

The company says a next launch is planned for Miami. It has not stated a date or venue in the account, so readers should treat Miami as an announced intention rather than a scheduled public event.

Minase’s official retailer directory lists MINASE North America / Tempus Takumi at 119 W 57th Street in New York and Arizona Fine Time in Scottsdale. A separate official distribution page identifies Tempus Takumi / Empire Time Company as the North America sales office. These are listed points of access, but a directory entry alone does not confirm walk-in access, appointment availability or stock; contact the retailer before visiting.

For event-based discovery, follow Minase’s official announcements for any Miami details. For a particular watch, a retailer visit is the more practical route to ask about the specific model, current inventory and purchase arrangements.
One separate collector item should not be mistaken for a tour result: Tempus Takumi describes a Gotham Watch Club × MINASE J3 as a 25-piece limited edition, with shipping planned for Holiday 2026. That retailer listing is distinct from the New York pop-ups and can change; confirm its current status directly with the retailer.
