But “replace all fitness trackers” is an ambition, not a proven result: the product remains on a company-reported development timeline, and independent testing has not established its accuracy, battery life, comfort or feature coverage.
What are Minimis Flow AR glasses?
The product first appeared in a 2023 announcement as Minimis Glass; Minimis now calls its sports glasses Flow AR. The core idea is to show exercise information and navigation in the wearer’s view, reducing the need to look down at a wrist or phone. The company currently advertises live performance metrics, GPS turn-by-turn navigation, optical heart-rate sensing, music streaming, voice or gesture controls, eSIM connectivity, and pairing with ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors. Its examples include heart-rate monitors, radars, power meters and speed sensors. It also advertises direct activity uploads to Strava. These are manufacturer claims, not independently verified capabilities (Minimis Flow AR; New Atlas, August 9, 2023).
That feature mix makes Flow AR a wearable-computing concept, rather than simply a display accessory for a phone. The European Commission categorizes both smart glasses and fitness trackers as wearable devices, and notes that wearables can combine functions such as heart-rate monitoring, activity tracking and navigation. That category context does not establish how well this particular product performs (European Commission staff working document, 2022).
Can the glasses track a workout without a phone?
Minimis advertises an eSIM, GPS, onboard optical heart-rate sensing, and ANT+ and Bluetooth sensor pairing, so its intended setup is not limited to displaying data from a phone. However, “standalone” should not be read as proof that every function works without a phone, network coverage or a compatible service. The available product information does not specify those dependencies or establish offline behavior for navigation, music or data uploads. Nor does it identify exact third-party sensor models that have been confirmed compatible.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a rider or runner, the practical distinction is between recording basic activity with the glasses’ own sensors and adding data from external equipment. Minimis advertises both its integrated heart-rate sensor and pairing with separate sports sensors, but the company has not published independently validated performance results for either setup. Readers considering ANT+ accessories should confirm model compatibility with Minimis before buying.
What hardware and battery details has Minimis published?
The current Flow AR page lists Android 12, a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It describes a monocular color display and integrated optical heart-rate, inertial-measurement, temperature, pressure and ambient-light sensors. These are current company-listed prototype specifications and may change before delivery (Minimis Flow AR).

For the earlier Minimis Glass announcement, New Atlas reported a weight of 90 g and estimated about seven hours of continuous operation or eleven hours of intermittent use. Those were launch-era figures, not independently measured results, and they should not be treated as verified specifications for the current Flow AR product (New Atlas, August 9, 2023).
Can Flow AR replace a running watch or bike computer?
It is trying to consolidate some of their jobs: a glanceable display, heart-rate monitoring, navigation and connections to sports sensors. That is a plausible product proposition for someone who wants fewer screens to check during a workout. It does not yet show that the glasses can replace every function of a fitness tracker, running watch or bike computer. The available sources do not establish comparative accuracy, runtime, comfort over a full workout, durability, weather resistance, data export behavior or the visibility and obstruction of the display in real use.

A fair comparison would require devices tested under the same conditions on:
- Supported workout metrics and sensor inputs
- Navigation source, turn guidance and offline operation
- Display visibility and any effect on the wearer’s view
- Runtime with matched GPS, display, music and connectivity use
- Weight and comfort over a full workout
- Whether core features work without a phone or cellular coverage
- Data export and compatibility with training apps
- Durability, weather resistance, final price and actual availability
No comparable test values are available to settle those questions. The founder’s stated dislike of sticky running watches and carrying a phone explains the motivation behind the concept, but it is a personal preference, not evidence that glasses are more comfortable or suitable for all athletes (New Atlas, August 9, 2023).

Minimis currently says Flow AR is launching in Q4 2026 and lists consumer-ready prototypes for testing and certification in Q2 2026, with first delivery targeted for Q1 2027. Those company targets do not line up neatly, and neither confirms ordinary retail availability or a guaranteed delivery date. The current page does not establish that consumers can buy the finished product now (Minimis Flow AR).
