Time+Tide’s 16 March 2025 roundup brought together independent watchmaking, artist collaborations and new models from established brands. Laurent Ferrier, Kurono Tokyo and Taos anchor the selection, which ranges from small-run dress watches and textile-inspired métiers d’art to a jumping hour, a monthly calendar and an Omega Worldtimer. The prices and release details below are those reported at the time, not a guide to current stock or pricing.
At a glance: the three names in the headline
| Release | Design and display | Reported launch details |
|---|---|---|
| Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin SC&L | Two special editions with finely grained blue dials, salmon seconds subdials and minute tracks. | Time+Tide reported 10 stainless-steel pieces at US$42,000 and five red-gold pieces at US$50,000 in 2025. |
| Kurono Tokyo 34mm Star Dial | Two stainless-steel versions with sunburst blue or copper dials, Art Deco numerals at the four cardinal points and applied star indices elsewhere. | Time+Tide reported a US$1,190 price in 2025. |
| Taos Textiles Collection | Three fabric-inspired designs—tartan, lace and sequins—using combinations of hand engraving, enamelling and gem setting. | Time+Tide reported thousands of hours of work for each watch and a price “on request” in 2025. |
Laurent Ferrier: a restrained dial with a small run
The two Classic Origin SC&L editions were connected with US jeweller Shreve, Crump & Low. Their shared blue-and-salmon palette keeps the visual distinction between them focused on case metal and production count: the steel version was the larger of the two runs, while the red-gold edition was limited to five.
Kurono Tokyo: star indices in a 34 mm format
The Star Dial project drew inspiration from Hajime Asaoka’s Tsunami “As Time Goes By” atelier watch. Instead of placing numerals around the full dial, Kurono used Art Deco numerals at the four cardinal points and star-shaped applied indices for the remaining positions. The two dial colours were blue and copper.
Taos: textile techniques translated to watches
Taos approached decoration through references to tartan, lace and sequins. The collection combines hand engraving, enamelling and gem setting; Time+Tide described the work on each piece as taking thousands of hours. Its 2025 roundup gave no fixed price, only “on request.”

Independent releases and collaborations
The rest of the roundup widened the range from playful, graphic designs to traditional craft and unusual displays. The reported launch figures below come from Time+Tide’s 2025 article; they should not be read as current retail prices or availability.
| Watch | What stands out | Reported launch detail |
|---|---|---|
| M.A.D. Editions M.A.D.2 | Eric Giroud’s design draws on 1990s club culture, electronic music, vinyl, turntables and stroboscopic platters. It uses an LJP movement with an MB&F-designed jumping-hour module. | 42 mm by 12.3 mm steel case; CHF 2,900. |
| Unimatic x Massena LAB U1-SPG “NASA Artemis” | Matte-black dial, “Old Radium” Super-LumiNova on the hands and dial, and a stainless-steel case coated in orange Cerakote. | US$1,295. |

| Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Wotto Limited Edition | Artist Wotto (Craig Watkins) uses the Aikon Automatic as a canvas. Time+Tide situated it after an engraved Aikon in 2021 and the Urban Tribe models. | Limited to 1,000 pieces; CHF 2,700. |
| Breva Genève Segreto di Lario | The brand’s debut model takes inspiration from Lake Como. Its display includes retrograde seconds and a dual seven-day power-reserve indicator; Jean-François Mojon of Chronode developed the movement exclusively. | 41 mm cushion-shaped 18K 5N+ rose-gold case; CHF 58,000. |
From club references to calendar mechanics
The M.A.D.2 is the most overtly kinetic in its inspiration, borrowing visual cues from turntables and stroboscopic platters while displaying the hour with a jumping-hour module. Krayon’s Anyday takes a more information-led approach: its monthly calendar arranges days and dates around the dial’s perimeter and marks weekends with a colour change.

Craft and collaborations
The Louis Erard x GoS stands out for its forged and heat-treated dial, while the Paulin, Unimatic, Zentier and Maurice Lacroix models put collaborations at the centre of their design stories. How to compare these releases
The roundup provides useful distinctions in design, dimensions, complications, limited-run counts and launch prices, but it is not a standardized hands-on comparison. Those details can help narrow which model merits closer investigation; they do not establish comparative accuracy, durability, comfort, water resistance, servicing needs or present-day market value.

- [Intimate Function] The luminous pointer allows you to wake up at night and know the current time in a timely manner, which is very convenient. Waterproof 50 meters (165 feet): Suitable for short periods of leisure swimming and showering, but not suitable for diving or snorkeling
- [Perfect Gift] Our luxurious carved mechanical watch is the perfect watch for various business, leisure, indoor activities, or daily use. It is the perfect gift for your lover, friends, and family

- For a smaller stated case: the Kurono is identified as 34 mm, while Zentier’s cushion case is 36 mm. Case shapes differ, so diameter alone does not predict how either wears.
- For distinctive displays: the selection includes jumping hours in the M.A.D.2 and Zentier, a monthly calendar in the Krayon, a regulator layout in the Louis Erard, and a Worldtimer in the Omega.
- For decorative work: Taos foregrounds textile-inspired engraving, enamelling and gem setting; the GoS dial is forged and heat-treated, and the Laurent Ferrier editions use a finely grained blue dial.
