The Nodus Contrail GMT uses a Miyota 9075 flyer-style movement, letting you advance the local-time hour hand in one-hour steps while the other time display stays set. That makes it easier to change time zones without resetting the watch. Nodus lists the Polaris at $900, but its official page currently marks it sold out and estimates a March 2027 restock; inventory and timing can change.
What makes the Contrail GMT a flyer-style watch?
“Flyer-style” or “traveler GMT” describes how the Miyota 9075 adjusts its time displays: the 12-hour local-time hand moves independently in one-hour increments. Fratello reports that this adjustment does not stop the seconds hand. You can therefore move the hour hand to match local time after landing while keeping the other time display set to your reference time. Fratello’s May 2024 launch coverage explains the distinction.
This is different from a caller-style GMT, which generally has an independently adjustable 24-hour hand. The two designs serve different routines: a traveler can quickly change the local hour, while a caller can more readily track another time zone from home. The Contrail’s stated movement is the traveler-oriented type.
How the Nodus Contrail GMT is specified
Case, water resistance and bezel
Nodus lists the Polaris case as 316L stainless steel, 40.5 mm wide, 11.8 mm thick and 46.6 mm lug-to-lug, with a 20 mm lug width. It has a screw-down crown, box sapphire crystal with underside blue anti-reflective coating, and 200 m water resistance. The bidirectional bezel has 48 clicks and a luminous sapphire insert. Nodus also specifies BGW9 Grade A Super-LumiNova. These are manufacturer specifications for the Polaris listing, not independent measurements. Nodus Contrail GMT Polaris specifications.

#1 Best Overall
- Comes with individual box
- 24 hour hand (dual time display function)
- Day difference + 45 to -35 seconds
- Mechanical automatic movement (with hand winding)
- Lasts approximately 41 hours on maximum winding
The listed proportions are relatively compact for a watch with this water-resistance rating, though fit depends on wrist shape as well as diameter and lug-to-lug length. The luminous bezel insert adds a potentially useful elapsed-time reference in low light; the listing does not establish a particular dive certification.
Movement and timekeeping
The Polaris page specifies a Japan-origin Miyota 9075 GMT movement with 24 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve and accuracy regulated by Nodus to ±8 seconds per day. Fratello additionally reports 28,800 vibrations per hour and hacking seconds. The ±8-second figure is Nodus’s stated regulation, not a claim that every watch will maintain that rate in every condition.

Bracelet and weight
Nodus lists a steel bracelet tapering from 20 mm to 16 mm and fitted with the brand’s Extension Module clasp. The bracelet uses quick-release springbars, and the watch head is listed at 68 g. A 20 mm lug width gives a clear nominal strap size, but confirm fit and compatibility for any particular strap or variant.
Does it make sense as a travel watch?
The independent local-hour adjustment is the most directly travel-oriented feature: it lets the wearer change local time in one-hour steps without resetting the other time display or stopping the seconds hand. The 200 m water resistance, screw-down crown, luminous bezel and listed dimensions broaden its practical appeal beyond airport use. The 42-hour reserve and Nodus-published regulation provide useful context for the movement, though neither tells you how the watch will perform on your wrist.

Before choosing it over another GMT, compare the details that affect your own routine and fit:
- Adjustment style: Does the watch independently move the local hour hand, or the 24-hour hand?
- Fit: Compare thickness and lug-to-lug length, not diameter alone.
- Water and bezel use: Check the stated water resistance and whether the bezel’s direction, markings and lume suit your use.
- Movement information: Look at power reserve and whether the maker publishes regulation figures.
- Bracelet and straps: Check clasp adjustment, quick-release hardware and lug width.
- Availability and price: Verify the current listing rather than relying on a launch price or an old review.
