The dimensions and movement specifications below are from NOMOS; wrist and styling impressions are attributed to reviewers who handled the watch, not to independent testing for this review.
What the Ref. 746 is—and what it is not
The current petrol-green model with a sapphire display back is the Club Sport neomatik petrol, Ref. 746. NOMOS’s current product page lists a price of 3,160 in the page’s displayed currency context; that figure is not a universal US or global quote. Check the page for your country and chosen configuration before comparing prices or availability: NOMOS Club Sport neomatik petrol, Ref. 746.
Keep it separate from Ref. 745. NOMOS’s October 2022 data sheet identifies Ref. 745 as the solid-steel-back version. That sheet lists a 37 mm diameter, 8.3 mm height, up to 20 atm water resistance, an 18 mm quick-change bracelet and the DUW 3001 with up to 43 hours of reserve. Those are Ref. 745 figures from the 2022 sheet, not the current Ref. 746 specification; the current display-back model is listed at 8.4 mm thick. NOMOS October 2022 data sheet (Ref. 745).

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or test results. The 20 atm rating is NOMOS’s stated water-resistance specification; it should not be read as evidence of a particular certification or as a substitute for care appropriate to the watch’s condition.

How it wears: slim, but not especially short
For fit, the 47.7 mm lug-to-lug measurement matters at least as much as the 37 mm diameter. A small diameter can suggest a compact watch, but the distance from lug tip to lug tip determines how much wrist space the case spans. Try it on if possible, especially if you prefer watches with short lugs or have a smaller wrist.
In his November 8, 2022 Fratello hands-on review, Daan de Groot said the earlier Ref. 745’s 8.3 mm profile looked as slim on his wrist as it did on paper. He also found the 47.7 mm length workable on his 17 cm wrist, while noting that fit is personal. His quoted impression was: “The 8.3mm profile not only seems impressive on paper, but it certainly also looks the part on the wrist.” The quote and 8.3 mm figure refer to that 2022 review context; the current Ref. 746 listing gives 8.4 mm. Monochrome’s launch-era review also praised the slim case and straightforward, legible layout. Those are reviewer impressions rather than universal judgments: how the watch sits depends on wrist shape, and whether the dial reads as simple or busy is a matter of preference. Petrol green dial and legibility
The dial pairs a petrol-green PVD coating with sunburst polishing. Its color and sheen may shift with lighting and viewing angle, so press images alone may not tell you how it will look in everyday use. Fratello’s de Groot found the petrol and polar-blue versions closer in color in person than their press images implied, but ultimately preferred the petrol dial and its sunburst texture. Monochrome likewise singled out the green as distinctive and described the layout as legible, with luminous markers and a small-seconds display.

Those reports are useful cues, not guarantees of how you will perceive the color. If choosing between petrol and Polar Blue, compare both in varied lighting where possible. The numerals and indices use white Super-LumiNova according to NOMOS; the brightness and duration of lume were not independently tested here.
Bracelet, clasp and strap options
The supplied Club Sport bracelet is 18 mm at the lugs and uses quick-change spring bars. De Groot described it as comfortable and said the quick-release bars let him remove it without a tool. He also noted that a spring bar in the clasp allowed on-the-go micro-adjustment. His main reservation was the polished clasp, which he felt would be the most scratch-prone part. Monochrome also flagged the clasp and described polished center links. These are observations from launch-era reviewers, not a durability test.

De Groot preferred the bracelet overall, though he found an 18 mm NATO-style strap workable. He reported a gap with a two-piece strap. The official 18 mm lug width helps establish a starting point, but it does not guarantee that every aftermarket strap will fit or sit neatly: check the strap’s thickness, end shape and clearance around the case and spring bars before buying.

NOMOS lists the in-house DUW 3001 automatic movement at 3.2 mm high and 28.8 mm in diameter, with 37 jewels and up to 43 hours of power reserve. The company also identifies its NOMOS swing system. The reserve is a manufacturer specification, not a result from an independent timing or power-reserve test.

NOMOS states water resistance to 20 atm and describes the watch as suitable for diving. That is a substantial stated rating for a slim sports watch, but no independent water-resistance test or additional safety standard is established here. Follow NOMOS’s care guidance and have the seals checked as appropriate, particularly before exposing an older or serviced watch to water.
What to check before choosing one
- Fit: Evaluate the 47.7 mm lug-to-lug span on your own wrist rather than relying on the 37 mm diameter alone.
- Dial: Compare petrol green with Polar Blue under different lighting; color and sunburst effect are subjective.
- Bracelet or strap: The bracelet is 18 mm with quick-change bars. Verify aftermarket strap dimensions and end shape rather than assuming compatibility from width alone.
- Reference: Ref. 746 has the sapphire display back; the documented Ref. 745 is the solid-back variant. Keep their measurements and listings distinct.
- Price and availability: Confirm the current price, currency context and configuration for your country. NOMOS’s displayed 3,160 listing and 2022 review prices are not interchangeable current market quotes.
Verdict
The Ref. 746 is a distinctive option for someone who wants a compact-diameter automatic sports watch with a slim case, a vivid sunburst dial and a display back. Its long-for-its-diameter 47.7 mm span makes a wrist check especially worthwhile. Reviewer impressions suggest a comfortable bracelet and attractive dial, alongside a polished clasp that may show wear; those judgments depend on individual fit and taste. NOMOS’s stated 20 atm resistance and up-to-43-hour reserve are useful specifications, but neither was independently tested for this article.
