OISA 1937’s revival effort centered on a hand-wound movement called the 29-50 Cinque Ponti, reviving a 1960s design by founder Domenico Morezzi. A 2021 report described plans to restart Italian movement production; a 2025 collector feature later documented a Domenico Morezzi watch using the calibre. Those accounts establish a reported revival and a later watch example, but not OISA’s current production or retail status.
What OISA 1937 is
OISA stands for Orologeria Italiana Società Azionaria. According to Monochrome Watches’ 2021 account, Domenico Morezzi founded the company in Milan in 1937 to make watch movements. The article describes a history of several calibres and millions of Italian-made movements, followed by a pause in activity during the quartz crisis. A 2025 collector feature says the original activity continued until the 1970s. These are specialist-watch-publication accounts; an official company history was not established in the sources available.
What the revival set out to do
The 2021 report described a revival project involving Carlo Boggio Ferraris, identified as Morezzi’s grandson; Marco Mantovani, then president of LOCMAN; Benedetto Perrotta of precision-manufacturing firm Officina Meccanica Futura; and financial partner Andrea Morante. These are roles reported at the time, not confirmation of current ownership or leadership.
The project’s stated aim was to supply mechanical movements made in Italy. Ferraris was quoted as saying: “The idea is to offer the entire sector high quality, precision and reliable ‘Made in Italy’ mechanical movements.” The report said production had begun in workshops in Pavia and forecast about 1,000 movements for 2022, with gradual growth from 2023. It also said the movement would be officially presented in January 2022. These were plans and forecasts published in 2021, not verified production results or evidence of present-day output.

The 29-50 Cinque Ponti movement
The 2021 report identified the hand-wound 29-50 Cinque Ponti as the revival’s initial production focus. It described the calibre as a 1960s Morezzi design remodelled to modern standards and gave these specifications:

These figures and features are those stated in the 2021 report, rather than independently verified current specifications. The same account said components were made in Italy alongside a few Swiss-made parts. “Made in Italy” should therefore not be read as a claim that every component originated in Italy.

A later watch using the calibre
In 2025, Monochrome’s collector feature described a limited-edition Domenico Morezzi watch powered by the OISA 29-50. It reported 18 yellow-gold examples and 97 steel examples. The collector said he selected a steel case with a blue dial and received his watch in November 2022. His comments on its size, finishing and movement are an individual owner’s impressions, not a general performance or durability test.

The 2025 feature says Ferraris was no longer leading OISA when it was written and that he had developed Morezzi Milano, described there as formerly independent from OISA but still strongly connected. That account does not establish the current legal or operating relationship between the names. Nor do the sources establish whether OISA is currently producing movements, whether the 29-50 remains in production, or whether the watch can be bought new from an official retailer.

For collectors, the documented trail is specific: a revival plan reported in 2021 and a limited-edition watch described by an owner in 2025. Anyone seeking an OISA-powered watch should confirm the exact calibre and provenance with the seller rather than assume that a current listing, production run or official retail channel exists.
