It spans six families—from the everyday-oriented Aqua Terra 150M to the professional-diving Ploprof 1200M—so the right comparison starts with the family and exact reference, not the Seamaster name alone.
What does “Omega Seamaster” mean?
Omega’s collection page groups its Seamasters into six families: Diver 300M, Aqua Terra 150M, Seamaster 300, Railmaster, Planet Ocean 600M, and Ploprof 1200M. The names signal different designs and intended uses, but do not by themselves establish the specifications of an individual watch. Omega’s live collection page can change, so check the exact reference when evaluating a particular model.
The six families at a glance
- Diver 300M: a modern dive-watch family that Omega dates to 1993.
- Aqua Terra 150M: a versatile family with examples rated to 150 metres; sizes and movements vary by reference.
- Seamaster 300: a separate family from the Diver 300M, despite the similar name.
- Railmaster: another distinct Seamaster family; do not assume Diver 300M specifications apply.
- Planet Ocean 600M: a deep-diving family; the rating and dimensions still need to be checked against the exact reference.
- Ploprof 1200M: a separate family with its own model-specific specifications.
What makes the Diver 300M an icon?
Omega says the Seamaster Diver 300M first appeared in 1993. Its November 2024 announcement described a particular 42 mm generation with a domed sapphire crystal, Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, and a choice of mesh bracelet or rubber strap. Omega also highlighted its wave-pattern dial, skeletonized hands, and helium escape valve at 10 o’clock. These are details of that announced range, not universal specifications for every Diver 300M generation. Read Omega’s 2024 announcement.
A recent Bond and Spectre example
Omega announced six Bond and Spectre Diver 300M watches on October 5, 2026. The announcement specifies 42 mm cases and Calibre 8806 for the collection. Two steel editions are sold individually: references 210.30.42.20.03.004 and 210.30.42.20.01.023. The other two designs appear in limited sets of 77 numbered sets each; each set contains one steel watch and one platinum-gold watch, and the watches are not sold separately. The platinum-gold references are 210.83.42.20.03.001 and 210.83.42.20.01.001. Omega stated that the collection became available in its boutiques and online from October 5, 2026; availability may change. See Omega’s Bond and Spectre announcement.

How do Aqua Terra and Planet Ocean specifications differ?
Omega’s product examples show why a family name—or even case size alone—is not enough to compare watches. Movement, reserve, water-resistance rating, and materials can differ by reference.
Aqua Terra 150M: two sizes, two movements
In an August 2025 turquoise-model announcement, Omega described 38 mm and 41 mm Aqua Terra watches, both rated to 150 metres. The 38 mm example uses Calibre 8800 with a stated 55-hour power reserve; the 41 mm example uses Calibre 8900 with a 60-hour reserve. Those figures belong to the announced models, not every Aqua Terra. Read the Aqua Terra announcement.

Planet Ocean: check the manual for the exact reference
Omega announced a fourth-generation Planet Ocean redesign in November 2025, introducing seven watches and describing the launch as arriving 20 years after the first Planet Ocean. One reference-specific example is the official manual for 217.32.42.21.01.001: it specifies a 42 mm case, 600-metre water resistance, automatic Calibre 8912, and a 60-hour power reserve. These specifications should not be applied to other Planet Ocean references without checking their documentation. Consult the manual for reference 217.32.42.21.01.001.
How to compare Seamaster watches
Compare complete references rather than relying on collection names. Use Omega’s product page and, where available, its manual to verify the details before deciding.

- Choose the family. Decide whether you are comparing a Diver 300M, Aqua Terra, Planet Ocean, or another Seamaster. The families have different designs and use cases.
- Record the full reference. Similar-looking watches can have different materials, movements, and availability. Keep the reference number alongside every specification.
- Compare size and water resistance. Check the stated case diameter and rating for that reference; do not infer either from the family name.
- Check movement and power reserve. Note the calibre and the published reserve. As Omega’s Aqua Terra examples illustrate, these can differ within one family.
- Assess materials and wearing setup. Confirm case, bezel, and dial materials, then compare bracelet or strap options for fit and preference.
- Verify the seller and current availability. Omega’s announcements describe product releases, not independent assessments of resale value, durability, or seller quality. If buying from a retailer or marketplace, confirm that the listing is for the exact reference and check the seller and stock at the time of purchase.
What the Seamaster name does—and does not—tell you
The name identifies a broad Omega collection whose families include distinct designs and specifications. Omega’s published releases and manuals are useful for confirming a particular model’s stated features; they do not, on their own, establish comparative performance, market demand, resale value, or durability. For any technical or purchasing decision, anchor the claim to the exact reference and its current documentation.
