The OnePlus Watch 3 launched in the United States and Canada on February 18, 2025—not “next week.” Its headline upgrades were a two-chip design paired with Wear OS 5, longer advertised battery life, dual-frequency GPS, a rotating crown, and expanded health and fitness features.
What changed with the OnePlus Watch 3?
OnePlus positioned the Watch 3 around a dual-engine architecture: Wear OS 5 runs alongside a secondary low-power system. The hardware named in the company’s launch announcement includes a Snapdragon W5 performance chipset, a BES2800 efficiency chipset, and a 631 mAh battery. OnePlus described the arrangement as a way to balance performance and power use; that is the company’s explanation, not an independent finding. OnePlus’s February 18, 2025 launch announcement gives the specifications and claims.
Battery claims and real-world context
OnePlus advertised up to five days in smart mode, up to three days in heavy-use mode, and up to 16 days in power-saving mode. The five-day, or 120-hour, smart-mode figure came from OnePlus laboratory simulations using specified settings; the company says actual battery life varies with use and other factors. Treat these as manufacturer claims rather than a guarantee of how long every wearer’s watch will last.
In a review last updated April 15, 2025, TechRadar’s reviewer reported about four and a half days during a week that included multiple GPS workouts and other features. That is one reviewer’s usage, not a controlled comparison or a universal expectation. Read TechRadar’s OnePlus Watch 3 review.

What health and phone features does it offer?
OnePlus highlighted a 60-second Health Check-In covering heart rate, blood oxygen, vascular health, wrist temperature, sleep, and physical and mental wellbeing. The company says the watch is for general wellness and fitness, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Health tracking requires the OHealth app.
The official product page lists Google Play apps such as Spotify, Strava, Sleep Cycle, and Google Maps, subject to app availability and compatibility. OnePlus also says users with OnePlus phones can control certain short-form video playback and the phone camera from the watch. These phone-specific controls should not be assumed to work identically with other Android devices.

Will it work with your phone?

Check the product page and app requirements for your market and phone before buying, since the stated compatibility is specific and app availability can vary.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What did independent reviewers note?
TechRadar’s review described the Watch 3 as large and reported a few tracking issues, including swim stroke detection. It also said ECG functionality was unavailable in the United States at the time of that review. That is a dated regional finding from April 2025, not confirmation of current availability or regulatory status.

Is the OnePlus Watch 3 the right upgrade?
The most relevant reasons to consider it are the advertised battery modes, Wear OS 5 and Google Play app access, dual-frequency GPS, and the crown and sapphire display. Before choosing it, weigh your phone’s compatibility, the watch’s size, the apps you use, and the specific fitness or health features you need. Battery comparisons are most useful when the other watch’s usage conditions are similar; OnePlus’s simulated maximum and an individual reviewer’s GPS-heavy week are different kinds of evidence.
