For a three-watch Tudor collection, our 2025 picks are the Black Bay 58 for a heritage-leaning steel diver, the Pelagos 39 for a technical titanium diver, and the Ranger for expedition-style everyday wear. They cover distinct roles rather than competing to be the single “best” watch. These recommendations compare TUDOR’s published specifications and positioning; they are not an official ranking or the result of hands-on testing.
Why these three watches make a balanced Tudor collection
The Black Bay 58 and Pelagos 39 are both divers rated to 200 m by TUDOR, but they differ in material, movement certification and reserve. The Ranger shifts the collection toward a simpler expedition-style watch, with 100 m water resistance and two case-size choices. Together, they offer distinct specifications and roles without relying on three versions of the same idea.

Black Bay 58: the heritage-leaning steel diver
The Black Bay 58 is the collection’s traditional steel diver choice. TUDOR’s current steel model is listed at 39 mm across and 11.7 mm thick, with 200 m water resistance and a 65-hour power reserve. Its MT5400-U movement is certified by both COSC and METAS, according to TUDOR’s current product page: Black Bay 58.
For the burgundy Black Bay 58, TUDOR’s 2025 press kit describes three-link and five-link steel bracelet configurations as well as a rubber strap: Black Bay 58 New Watches press kit (2025). Choose the exact dial and attachment configuration rather than assuming every version is offered with every option. Published dimensions alone cannot establish how the case will sit on a particular wrist.
Rank #2
- Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight Automatic Chronometer Blue Dial Men's Watch M79030b-0001
Pelagos 39: the technical titanium diver
The Pelagos 39 fills the technical-diver role with a 39 mm grade 2 titanium case, listed thickness of 11.8 mm, and 200 m water resistance. TUDOR specifies an MT5400 movement certified by COSC and an approximately 70-hour power reserve. Its current product page lists a titanium bracelet with a T-fit clasp: Pelagos 39.
TUDOR positions the broader Pelagos family around technical dive-watch use. Within this trio, titanium distinguishes the Pelagos from the steel Black Bay 58; the stated specifications do not by themselves prove that one will feel lighter or more comfortable for every wearer.

Ranger: the expedition-style everyday watch
TUDOR presents the Ranger as a 21st-century expedition watch. The 2025 press kit lists steel cases in 36 mm and 39 mm, 100 m water resistance and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. It pairs the 36 mm case with an MT5400 movement and the 39 mm case with an MT5402. Bracelet and green fabric-strap configurations are described in that kit: Ranger New Watches press kit (2025). The current collection page gives the family’s positioning: Ranger collection.
Choose 36 mm if you want the smaller case option
The 2025 documentation establishes that a 36 mm steel Ranger is available and specifies its MT5400 movement. It does not establish how that size will look or feel on an individual wrist, so try the exact configuration if fit is decisive.

Choose 39 mm if you prefer the larger listed option
The 39 mm steel Ranger uses the MT5402 according to the 2025 press kit. Size is the clear documented distinction here; the source does not provide a basis for declaring either size universally preferable.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose among the three
- Choose the Black Bay 58 if you want the heritage-leaning steel diver role and value its currently listed COSC- and METAS-certified movement.
- Choose the Pelagos 39 if titanium and a technical-diver positioning are the priorities, while retaining a 39 mm case and 200 m rating.
- Choose the Ranger if you want the expedition-style watch in the trio, and decide between the documented 36 mm and 39 mm case options.
For a collection rather than a single-watch choice, the strongest reason to include all three is their separation of roles and materials: two divers with different case materials and a non-diver expedition-style option. Whether that makes sense depends on your intended use and taste; no comparative wear or durability test is available to settle questions of comfort, appearance, or real-world performance.
