The 2018 Panerai Luminor Base Logo and Luminor Marina Logo are six 44 mm watches that share a manually wound P.6000 movement, a reported 72-hour power reserve and 100 m water resistance. The key difference is simple: the Base shows hours and minutes only; the Marina adds a small-seconds display at 9 o’clock. The names also appear on older Panerai references, so the six watches covered here are specifically PAM00773 through PAM00778.
What is the difference between the Base Logo and Marina Logo?
The Base Logo has no seconds hand or seconds display: its dial shows hours and minutes. The Marina Logo adds a running small-seconds hand at 9 o’clock. In the January 2018 first look, both families were reported with the same 44 mm polished stainless-steel case, brushed crown-protection system, closed caseback, hand-wound P.6000 movement, 72-hour power reserve and 10 bar (approximately 100 m) water resistance. These are specifications reported for the 2018 releases, not later Marina models.
The article also reports a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and hacking seconds for the Marina. Its dial descriptions distinguish the collection from Panerai’s typical sandwich construction: these Logo models use painted numerals.
Which references are the 2018 Luminor Logo models?
Robert-Jan Broer’s January 17, 2018 first look identifies three Base Logo references and three Marina Logo references. The listed straps and dial treatments are the configurations described in that article; individual watches or listings may differ if a strap has been changed.

The euro amounts are historical launch prices reported in January 2018, not current asking prices, resale estimates or evidence that a reference is currently available. How to distinguish these from PAM00000 and PAM00005
The names “Base Logo” and “Marina Logo” are not unique to the 2018 launch. The six watches above are PAM00773, PAM00774, PAM00775, PAM00776, PAM00777 and PAM00778; they are different references from the older PAM00000 Base Logo and PAM00005 Marina Logo.

The third-party Panerai Reference Database at Watchlounge lists PAM00000 as a 44 mm steel model made from 2004 to 2015 and PAM00005 as a 44 mm steel model made from 2004 to 2017. It lists 300 m water resistance for both older references. Watchlounge says its database has not been approved by Panerai, so treat those details as collector-reference information rather than manufacturer-confirmed specifications. Its pages also record dial and production variations; authenticate any individual watch and its configuration rather than relying on a name alone: Watchlounge’s PAM00000 entry and Watchlounge’s PAM00005 entry.
Where the Luminor and OP Logo fit
Panerai’s official history says the Luminor name was registered as a trademark in 1949. The brand identifies the crown-protection bridge as a defining part of the Luminor design. Its design history traces the Marina from the 47 mm 6152/1 of the 1960s to the 1990s 5218-203/A, which it describes as the first model with the Luminor Marina inscription and a 44 mm case. Panerai also explains its OP Logo as a symbol of the brand’s connection to underwater precision instruments and aircraft-carrier and aviation landing-aid equipment. Do not transfer specifications from newer Marina generations to the 2018 Logo models. Panerai’s current history page describes changes introduced with the 2025 Luminor Marina collection, including 500 m water resistance, an open caseback, a cross-balance bridge, hacking small seconds and a click-release strap system. Those are later-generation features, not the reported specification of the 2018 watches.

The original configurations included leather and fabric straps, so a replacement or alternative can change how a watch looks and wears. The 2018 first look does not establish a universal lug width or guarantee compatibility across references. Check the exact reference and strap dimensions before ordering.

For a pre-owned example, use the reference number to identify the specific variant, then assess the individual watch rather than assuming its current condition or configuration from the launch description. Panerai’s owner booklet gives maintenance and service guidance and directs owners to a Panerai service center for some external interventions: Panerai owner booklet.
